vince's dunk?

i thought the through the legs was from isiah rider?

btw... richard jefferson shouldnt even compete in the slam dunk contest..hes horrible.

Posted by: celldude

man..... j rich's reverse vince carter dunk was awesome....

Posted by: celldude

vince doesn't need to prove himself anyone in the dunk contest..... he is famous already.

Posted by: Robert K.

The slam dunk competition was awesome this year! Richardson's last dunk was amazing ans so was Mason's 1st one in the final round!

Jefferson is a jammer...not a dunker...jammers just throw the ball w/ force...J Rich dunks it w/ flair...he is good...but it was a good take on the V.C. dunk I think...i dont know what else ppl can do.... i guess do a 720 reverse jam or osmething heheh...

Posted by: pd0x

oh and I thought it was pathetic that Jefferson needed like 10 steps to try and attempt the same behind the board dunk that vince tried...or the fact that he didnt get anywhere close to getting his elbow in the rim heheh

Yeah... his dunks were pathetic! The best dunks (some Richardon's and Mason's dunks) were so spectacular that you HAD to see them in slow-mo from different angles just to see exactly what they had done! I still can hardly see Richardson putting the ball through his legs at normal speed!

Posted by: Dash23

man that was f*ckin awesome, the final round was unreal

when desmond mason did that thru the leg dunk with this left hang, MY GOD, i was like holy sh*t!, cause the guy leans into it like crazy and gets his legs goin....unreal

i was doubting j-rich in the end i thought for sure mason had it casue i was thinnkin '**** we've seen almost everything j-rich can do' cause j-rich is a 2 foot leaper like dominique.....but when he pulled that thru the legs **** reverse...GOOD LORD.....what a way to take the win, now thats excitement....eat your heart out vince, come back for next years dunk off (vinces reverse 360 windmill in 2000 is still my favorite dunk ever).....but man, good dunk fest just cause of them 2 guys.......i doubt mason will come back for a 4th year in a row, but i think he should, hes ****in awesome.

yeah and j-riches dunk was fast as hell,, looked cool, but again, u HAVE to do it fast when u go thru the legs or else u just wont get the ball up at the rim in time

Posted by: SharpST77

btw...j rich dunked with his left hand on the last one...which was even tougher..

but i still like the desmond mason's first dunk at slam dunk contest...the Jordan style one from the side...HE WALKED ON AIR!!!

Posted by: Dash23

yep, i always loved teh jordan mona lisa dunk that desmond did

i just hate it when they miss it the first time, cause the surprise is gone, but still it looked awesome when he did it

nice homage to MJ, and i really liked how the judges were all dunk contestant legends.....it should be like that every year

guys who really understand it,

like for example taht first dunk that jefferson did, off the board windmill, that is a HARD dunk, but it wasn't very appealing to teh eye.....those guys understand that **** when they give out scores

Posted by: pd0x

What do you think are the top three dunks of all time?

1. Vince Windmill Reverse 360 (2000)
2. MJ - free throw line dunk
3. J Rich - last nite's reversal thru the legs

worst dunk ever: Desmond Mason's Blind Man's Jump when he tried dunkin w/ a blind fold

hehe that was funny...that was a while back tho

Posted by: Dash23

1. Vince reverse 360 windmill (people dont understand how hard this is, some guys cant even jump that way around, try doing it on a low net next time u play, i have, its akward as hell)

2. in a game i'd probably sayin vince jumpin over the 7'2 french guy, but i guess were talkin dunk competetions so.....hrm, MJ's free throw line one definitely was the most stylish of the free throws, the poster of that dunk, with the crowd watching, and how much style he has is just incredible, so its definitely up there.

3. i dont really know, but ive always LOVED harolds reverse **** it down to my nuts hammer jam, he dunks so fast its awesome. also kemps throw it behind the back, catch it and reverse it, then point to gary payton was awesome, and is extremely difficult.

oh btw, i dont think it was desmond that tried the blind fold, i think you mean baron davis, he was such a moron he could have won it if he didn't try that, he didn't even reach the net at all. but alteast u can tell he was seriously blind folded (that cedric ceballous **** was retarded and he must have seen), noone runs from 3 point land blind folded and dunks it that easily, nice try cedric

Great point... those guys probably see those dunks as if they were in slow-mo the first time around!

pd0x... yeah, all 3 of those rank right near the top! I haven't really tried to keep track of my all time favs in my head, but I do remember that Harold Minor and Isiah Rider had a few sweet ones... and just seeing a dude as short as Spud that high in the air was sweet too (not saying they rank that high, but they just stick in my memory)

I was thinking about this last night though (watching older dunk contest highlights). MJ is 6'6", and the rim is 10' off the ground. So, if Jordan's head was roughly 6" above the rim at his highest elevation, that puts him 48" off the floor if his legs were fully extended downward. BUT... Jordan had this thing with his legs during some dunks where his legs were bent so his knees seemed to be the closest part of him to the floor. I'm figuring that he possibly had more than 70" of AIR between him and the floor! (without using the rim to raise himself up).

Is my math way off there, or when you see Jordan's older dunks doesn't it seem to you like he is WAY WAY high up in the air for a LONG LONG time? I taped the MJ Tribute special last night.... so I might have to do some further research

I'm really looking forward to tonight, because the spectacular dunks that happen during actual game situations are even more fun to see

Posted by: pd0x

although I hate McGrady for his arrogance...and it WAS a all-star game...you gotta like that dunk off the rebound in last years all star game...

i think ppl also forget the in the rim dunk by vince carter...THAT WAS INSANE air...and it is soooo hard to even get high enuff so that you can get your *extended* hand into the bucket and still keep it in there...think about this...most dunks...its only the hands which go over the rim...

for that specific dunk...it was vince's top half basically

MJ was and still is disgusting

when he was young, and in those dunk fests, he had the hang time finesse,

jordan could do a 1 foot take off so nicely (ie. free throw line) or 2 foot take off (ie. that baseline winmill where it looks like hes flying forever that they always show from his old dunk competetion)

dominique was always that 2 foot leaper, he would just explode off the floor and hammer it with some of the best windmills ever. (j-rich is alot like him, if u asked j-rich to try the free throw line dunk with a 1 foot take off, which he did have to attempt last years competetion, it would never happen, cause hes a PURE 2 foot leaper)......

thats why i like seeing vince and kobe dunk to, more so vince, they are awesome at 1 footed dunks and 2 foot take off dunks. taking off with 2 feet lets u be creative and it looks amazing (ala vince carter reverse 360 windmill) i dont like kobe, but that guy just flys to.

You guys are getting my psyched up... in 90 minutes we're going to be seeing some of that sweet action

I'm going to tape the game... since it's MJ's last and I have a gut feeling that everybody on the eastern squad wants to send him out in a special way (uh oh........... just remembered that the wife wants to tape "Alias" . But I'm pretty sure I said I wanted to tape the game first! I might have to find the extra VCR and hook it up.....................).

VC 360 windmill - BEST DUNK ID EVER SEEN AND WILL EVER SEE IN MY FREAKIN LIFE.

no matter who does it..its not gonna be better than that one... VC perfected that dunk...every motion to the dunk was perfect...

btw..im not a VC fan...hahaha

Posted by: Dash23

no **** sharp, whether u like VC or not, thats the best dunk ever.....noone will remember, but someone tried that dunk last year or in 2001 i cant remember, and they missed and it looked like **** comapred to what vince did, and they didn't even run from the front, they tried cheating and doing it from the baseline.....goes to show how tuff that dunk is...

oh btw, ****ING jordans last shot in the AS game was unbelieveable.....shooting over marion who is atleast 3 inches taller then MJ< while hes falling down, see that rainbow? when that hit all my buddies went nuts, we started jumpin givin eachother high 5's, we never do that ****....then ****in jermaine oneal ****s it up, ah well, i like jermaine alot hes awesome, just too bad he didn't get it.....they would have gave him the MVP just for gettin that **** to

My thoughts exactly!

Best shot and moment of the game.............. and I WON'T let Jermaine ruint it for me!!! (that was probably the dumbest foul I have ever seen )

Jason Richardson's final dunk was phenomenal but it seemed very difficult to see what he really did in "real time" because of how quickly he completed to the dunk.

Anyway, I still think Vince is the best dunker on the planet.

No kidding... I still can hardly see it go between his legs except in slow-mo!

i heard ppl saying that isiah thomas told jermaine oneal to foul kobe so MJ doesnt get the game winner...since ppl still think he holds a grudge on MJ...

ROFL... I said that as a joke in the "all-star game predictions" thread. Isiah is the one who pushed hard for Jordan to start, from listening to him being interviewed pre-game. I think that Jermaine fouled Kobe because he's a DUMB-@SS!!! Just putting a hand in his face would've been enough... Kobe barely had time to catch and shoot off balance, much less get set for the shot. Even if I wasn't a huge MJ fan I would still be pissed to see such an incredible clutch shot go to waste like that because of complete stupidity.

I went to school with Jason, and he is an incredible athlete. He will soon be known as the best dunker in the league
