Motorola Q Looks Dead - Not quite...

My Q looks dead... fully charged, barely used it, set it down for a few minutes... come back and it doesn't wake up. The power button doesn't work at all. Even connecting the wall charger doesn't do anything, no LCD or charging tone.

I've had this happen 3 times in the two days I've owned the phone.

The only way to fix this is to pop the battery cover off, pop the battery out for 1 second and then pop it back in and put the battery cover back on. The power button now works and the phone turns back on. This is unacceptable.

VZW told me the standard things "third pary apps are bad", "try a master reset", etc. If that doesn't work, he told me to exchange for a new phone.

Many people on the Motorola support forum are complaining of the same problem. One person claims there defective phone with this problem has a sequence number "Seq#: 2XXXXXXX" on the label on the box. They took theirs back and got a phone with sequence # "Seq#: 5XXXXXXX" and this phone no longer has the problem.

I'm going to give the phone another day or two to see if this problem happens again after doing the magical "Master Reset". If it does, it's going back and I'll look for a box with sequence # starting with "5".

Anyone else have similar issues or a solution?

P.S. You should read some of the posts on the Motorola Support forum. Replies from the Motorola techies are ridiculous:
