e815 discontinued :-(

I recently made the switch to verizon from Cingular, I was very excited to get the e815 and they are now telling me I can't because they discontinued it like 4 months ago. I saw an e816 from amp'd mobile and really liked it better than the e815 (physical appearance that is) I was curious if anyone has tried flashing an e816 with e815 firmware and would it work on the verizon network?

If you really want an e815, you can still find them at some Circuit City stores and on VZW's Circuit City page:

In zip code 91325, for a few days last week, the e815 was back on the verizon wireless website as available for purchase. It's gone again; but may yet appear again if they get any additional shipments. The free-standing Verizon stores in my area are out of them; however, Circuit City Verizon stores still had quite a supply of them this past weekend. My NE2 came up last Sunday; and I was relieved to be able to get my free (after rebate) e815. The weekend before, we bought 2 e815s for the price of $50 (after rebate) for family members at Circuit City.

From what I can gather, there is going to be no replacement for the e815. Or, rather, there already is one: the RZR V3m. From what Motorola says, all the new Motorolas will have the Verizon ui (which apparently is overly simplified) along with an internal antenna (hence reception that isn't as good as the e815's). : (
The phones that Motorola announced for the 4th quarter have specs that are inferior to the e815's.

I'm glad to have my e815, and have synchronized my address book and turned clips of some of my favorite songs into ringtones.

Enjoy your e815s: it seems to be the end of an era.

I can't recall what I had before that. I probably wanted to forget it.

Most of my family and friends have upgraded to V3cs or V3ms. None have reception issues.

Check the Motorola website, they have the E815 available for $199.99 outright purchase.
