Hey,

I got the 770SH but for some reason the timestamp on sms recieved is 5 hours behind. Anyone know how to fix this?

And does anyone know how to get rid of the carrier name on the display?

you won't be able to get rid of the carrier name..

and the timestamp.. most likely has to to do with your phone not talkin p-roperly with the network.

you can try and make sure the time is set up properly. set local time and world time to the same (your) timezone.

may not fix ur problem though.

doesnt this happen with the 903 with euro as well? you have to set ur location as london and change the time to toronto's time. The time ur getting on ur sms is 5hrs ahead so gmt time

Yea it works, you have to set the time to london time zone, then readjust the time to ur local time.

Thanks,

But when i used the 903, it never showed the carriers name on the screen, is it a 903 thing? btw, i only used the 903SH for a month, and it was my cuz so i dont know what he did with it beforehand. So could it be a number code to remove it?

only the 903 with the japanese firmware has the option for removing operator name, maybe the hybrid does too im not sure. Euro def shows op name.

btw, does this model needs to be unlock like the 705SH ?

I am interested in buying an unlocked 770SH for a reasonable price, anyone knows where I could get that?

if you live in Switzerland... (Sunrise is a Swiss carrier), You *might* want to try the countries next to Switzerland that have Vodafone networks or Vodafone partner networks - e.g. Vodafone in Germany and Austria, SFR in France, not sure what the Italian one is. I'm jsut guessing... too lazy to check their websites.

The problem is that I am not into Vodafone carrier, I want to stay with my Sunrise carrier, therefore, I need an unlocked phone. In Switzerland, there are only Vodafone agents who sells this 770SH and of course they won't unlock it.
I haven't had any chance yet on the net, all prices are like... more expensive than Switzerland... :-(

What I mean is....

-travel out of Switzerland to find one.
-get it unlocked at an independent phone shop. do this in the area you bought it in, outside Switzerland if necessary (since it isn't available in Switzerland, and thus, harder to find someone who will unlock it)

of course it's available in switzerland...
but only at vodafone shops and locked.
I haven't found any online store outside of the country who sells
it unlocked. it's a mystery ...

i think the only unlocked 770sh available are the ones unlocked by Vodafone themselves..

If you bought them in Germany they'd come unlocked. Phones can't be locked by law in that country.

interesting thing about germany!
because here in switzerland, vodafone doesn't unlock their phones, they want you to buy the phone and use with their carrier.

The time stamp happen to all FW of 903SH. However you can minimize it to just 3 mins difference. At the Set Your Time Zone setting, select Custom Time Zone. Input your country name & set the GMT *you should know the GMT for your country*. Then, select your country for the TIme zone. Switch off Daylight saving. Set the time/date. test it by SMS to yourself. It should work. I done for 3 903SH. 1 full Euro FW & the other 2 is a hybrid between Euro & Jap FW.

i don't think the problem on the time stamp can be fixed by just adjusting the world clock (timezone). it might also has something to do with your location too. for example my GMT is +8hrs. i've set the world clock according to our timezone. now everytime my gf sends me msgs i do receive the msg with the right timestamp, BUT not all the time. there are some certain locations she's in that when she sends me a msg the time stamp is wrong. and actually the time difference depends on the GMT you have saved on the phone, which for me is +8hrs. so i usually receive msg that are 8 hrs in advance.

then i tried setting my timezone to london's timezone. so basically the GMT would be zero. yes there are times that when i receive a msg the timestamp is correct. but if it is not, this time its not 8hrs advanced but rather 8hrs late.

so i conclude that the phone realizes the time on your own timezone but doesn't communicate well between our phone and our network. and since the 903 thinks that it is still in london so he uses the time zone for london but not getting the same time zone from the network you are subscribed too.

is it clear? i hope it is. lol....
