Receiving Double Messages in email

Hi All,

I am receiving double messages from my main email address. I am on BIS and I haven't changed any forwarding rules. I am not receiving double messages on my PC. I resent the Service Books and checked to ensure the cc or Bcc options are not set.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Who is your email provider? Have you checked forwarding rules with the email provider?

Cingular is my provider. Where would I check those rules? I believe I have checked everywhere forwarding rules apply but I could be wrong and could have missed something. Where are you thinking of?

Thank you.

Regarding forwarding rules, I was thinking of your email provider, such as Yahoo, Gmail, etc. The Cingular BIS website is:

http://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=mycingular

to check your settings there. How exactly did you setup your email, was it from the above website, or was it a forwarding rule within your email?

Yes, I had checked the link you included but just took another look. My two accounts are set-up w/mycingular.blackberry. I don't have forwarding set-up anywhere else, e.g., Gmail, Webmail, etc...

Does that make sense?

Sorry but you mention 2 accounts? Which accounts are setup via the Cingular BIS site? Which email account is creating duplicate messages on your device?

Thank you. Thank you.

I think you hit on something. I went to check my account with Earthlink via Webmail. Well....I'm showing my age , I did in fact make a change.

I read on the forums last week that if you set-up forwarding on Web Mail that it's faster for delivery for your email - otherwise there is a delay. So I did set up forwarding on Web Mail. But what is odd, is that for two days it didn't work, so I thought I put all of my settings back to their original state however, I missed that step. Then for some reason, I guess forwarding started working, thus the two copies.

When I mentioned two accounts I was speaking of my main Earthlink account and mycingular account w/blackberry.net. I have those two accounts set-up via the website you provided.

As far as forwarding vs. having mycingular.blackberry check the accounts, do you know what I mean when I speak of the delay in receiving email? It looks like I have to pick one set-up or the other. Do you have any thoughts on this?

Again, thank you so very much for jogging my memory with your thoughts.

Glad something clicked!

As for the setup of emails, there are a few options:

- forward your emails from Earthlinkt to you @cingular.blackberry.net email account. then login to the Cingular BIS site, edit options for the @cingular.blackberry.net email account and change the Reply To email address to reflect your Earthlink account.

- setup your Earthlink account on the Cingular BIS site, but this most likely will set it up as a POP account, meaning your emails would be checked every 15 minutes from Earthlink and thenm delivered to your BlackBerry.

Method one is my preferred method as it provides instantaneous emails with integration so the recipient does not need to learn a new email address for you, the @cingular.blackberry.net.

Hope this all makes sense.

Thank you so very much. That is very clear and I now understand the difference. Yes, I agree that number one is preferrable. I will make those changes. Thanks, again.
