HTC 8125 Poor WiFi

I have a new 8125. I am seeing a lot of issues with the WiFi client. Roaming from AP to AP does not work consistantly. The client will not auto-reassociate to the next AP as you go out of range from one AP and into range of another. Also, it will not conssitantly attach to the SSID that I choose, it frequently will try to attach to SSIDs that are not currently in range Has anyone seen this behavior and know what to do about it ?

yea the wifi on this phone is a joke. Im sitting on my laptop using our wireless, but my phone next to me can not connect to the wireless signal. And i have a 5 bar strength on my network where as it shows one on my phone. It is one of the reasons why i got this phjone over the treo, but the wifi sucks balls.

I have found that if I give the 8125's MAC address a static IP in my router's settings I no longer have problems connecting at home. Also, give it one away from the normal issuance on your network.....something like 192.168.0.185, or what ever will get you +10 out of normal IP range.

As far as other access points I don't seem to have any trouble.....although there is only one locally that I can connect to.

There's an adjustment where you can switch between best performance and best battery life. It defaults to in-between.

Start -> Settings -> Connections -> Wireless LAN - > Power Mode (Tab)

Try moving it to best performance and see if that helps.

I will try the power /performance setting.

Re the statc IP, while a good suggestion for home use, it is not really practical to use a static IP at a hotspot or at work where we use DHCP. Thanks!

I set that to Best Performance and the thing got hot and the battery died in under 3 hours. Normally my 8125 is cool and lasts 9 hours using just WiFi. I also did not really notice a difference in signal quality. I reset it to mid (factory) position.

mine gets real hot to with best settings and its over clocked to 252 but you cant beat the 1.0 mb down

I'll take the 6 hours of battery over the 100K difference then...

I get 900Kb d/l as it is...

mine takes about the same time 6-7 hours. have you tried over clocking it. what rom are you running

I'm clocked @ 240 all the time. I get about 9 hours total battery...
