Help with service/phone in D.C.

Hi,
I've been with AT&T in D.C. for about a year and was getting ready to switch from my Nokia 8260 to a new bluetooth phone (to go with my new Tungsten). I was looking around this sight and read some threads about the new pricing plans and now need even more help. Can someone please tell me which carrier is the best in the D.C. area in terms of coverage and signal strength? I live close to the rock creek park (near the zoo) which is notorious for low signal quality. I make most of my calls indoors at home or in a local hospital in the evenings. I probably average 250-300 minutes a month of peak time and lots of evenings/weekends. Also, I would greatly appreciate advice about a good bluetooth phone. I was all set to get the t68i but am now leaning towards the Nokia 6310i after reading reviews on this page. Is there a better option? Is there an update to the 6310i coming soon?
Thanks in advance (and I hope this is posted to the right section),
E

I thought I would answer my earlier question after migrating to AT&T's GSM service and moving to the Nokia 6310i. First, the GSM coverage is excellent. I have very good reception at home near Rock Creek Park where my last phone failed miserably. The battery life is unreal - it took 5 days of Very heavy use to get the phone completely discharged (bluetooth on and used, infrared transmissions between phone and palm multiple times, hours of call use, never off). I ended up getting more for my $40 with the GSM plan than my previous (more peak minutes although my night/weekend changed to 9pm). All in all, I would recommend the AT&T GSM service in DC (haven't checked reception in Maryland or Virginia yet) and would definately recommend the Nokia 6310i.

I migrated last august to GSM and have TDMA as a backup on my S46, but I rarely use the TDMA side due to the good coverage on the GSM side.

From DC to Woodbridge (about 25 miles south), I get great coverage, I don't remember finding a dead spot yet in the areas I frequent, mostly Prince William/Fairfax Counties and DC... DC seems to be completely covered pretty much.

I've been down further to Stafford and Fredericksburg and still had a great signal on the GSM side. The only dead area I found, but it really doesn't count, is Quantico and the out skirts off I95... But how many people besides feds and marines are in Quantico all the time? In these cases on my S46, it switched to TDMA...

Just my few cents.

I agree with these guys, the GSM coverage has been EXCELLENT here in DC (except last Saturday when all outgoing call capability was dead in NoVA for 12 hours), hehe.

I have been an AT&T customer in DC for 6 years, and have had nothing but excellent service from them. They started off a little bumpy, and over-expanded in 1999 which caused some headaches... but over all, they rock!

Just wish the GSM worked in the Metro...
