I have used bitopim with a data cable in the past with this phone. Now, when I plug in the cable to the USB port I get no "boing Bong" and it is not seen by bitpim. HELP!

How bout the drivers for the 8300...did you install them?? Use the search tool on the page. Search for 8300 Drivers and there should be a couple posts with links

I did install those driversm, but not working. I tried to uninstall, and reinstall. The drivers just install, but windows does not recognize new harware. WTF?

Check your cable. The cable for my 8100 is a little messed up on the USB side and I have to bend it at the connection for my PC to recognize the phone.

mine looks fine, It is working to charge the phone, just won't recognize it. I read something about setting the phone for usb, I wonder if I somehow messed that up? I can't find an option for that however.

It's under Settings & Tools as PC Connection on the 8100. It's probably the same on the 8300.
