I'm pretty sure that in order to use a 4gb SD card, you need to replace the fatfs.prc driver with fat32.prc in your rom (which means you need to do a custom rom).

It is possible. KA will know how to do it for sure.

hey,
I wrote a tutorial on how to replace the fatfs.prc with fat32.prc.
The tutorial and fat32.prc file are available on my site (the link is on my thread at http://howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=969107)
check it out

I've done it by replacing the FAT driver with fat32.prc. Be warned that once you do it, you should not put that FAT32 formatted card into a non-FAT32 Palm or FAT formatted card into the FAT32 Palm. Either operation will cause the card to be corrupted as the Palm attempts to identify if there is any data on the card and then procedes to format it. Learned that the hard way (and 3.8GB of file restores later).
Hopefully Palm will come up with a dual driver that will support both FAT and FAT32 on the same device. I thought there was supposed to be a ROM update on June 6th but I never heard another word.

The fat32 hack is very simple. all you need is the RomTool program(grack.com) & the fat32 prc(treocentral.com). Just read the tutorial

I can't even get my 2 GB card to work. It is locking up my screen when someone calls. And I know it is the card because I can put my 512 back in and it works flawlewssly.

Reformat the card on your comp & again in the Treo & it should work. It may be formatted incorrectly or have a corrupted file on it. Or, worst case scenario, the hardware of the card might be damaged.

Since you can make your Treo 650 support 4GB SD cards with a rom patch, is there like an ultra super rom that has everything in it?

what do you mean "an ultra super rom that has everything in it ?"
Personally, I removed a lot of stuff from my rom. I installed some programs on the ROM that are known to work when installed on the ROM.
But my treo started to reboot randomly so I went back to a slimmed down custom ROM without any extras. I run all my apps now from my SD card. I don't have a single program installed on my Treo 650's RAM. its better that way IMO.

Ummm... I'm running one of the Fat32 custom rom's with a Fat16 card in the treo. Seems to work just fine....
