Qtek 8500 Auto Time Set

I have the Qtek to automatically adjust the time and I have my time zone set but it keeps defaulting to a totally incorrect time. Does anyone have a suggestion?

Because it's Cingular; it's a Cingular issue, not the phone.

it can do that? As far as i know it can't auto change the time because of the calendaring functions. You going to CA from NYC would mess up all your data and fire alarms off at crazy times. I haven't heard that any smartphone can do this and that's why they sync with your PC clock when you connect it.

yeah it can, i just set it on mine, and i'm in CA, and it set it to Mountain Time instead of Pacific Time. Happened on my old 8125 as well, it's a Cingular issue.

Mine is off like that, too. I thought it was taking the correct current time, but applying the -6 GMT (Central Time Zone) incorrectly.

I went back to just setting the time manually.

Funny that Cingular can't get it right . . . Verizon had no issues with this.

I have Cingular but now I'm using the iMate ROM and my auto time set works just fine. I had experienced the messed up auto time with the original Qtek ROM.

Incorrect - it is a ROM issue. With the iMate ROM on my QTek 8500 the network time updates just fine.....

funny, seeing how it happened to me on two different phones all on multiple ROMs, ALL with Cingular.

That is odd since you and I are in the same general area; I live in Las Vegas. My Mpx 220 time does not update but my Treo 650 and the iMate ROM on the 8500 do.

There is an option for using network time on the phone settings but I'm sure you know about that.

I have the same issue with my I-Mate Smartflip in the auto time set mode and I am on T-Mobile.

T-Mobile uses Cingular towers! lol
