Is it possible to play an audio book as music, or would the file be too large?

Most digital versions of audio books that I've acquired have been split up into multiple smaller mp3s. Usually by chapter or some other delimiter. I'm not sure if this is standard with most places where you can download audio books you've purchased. If nothing else there would likely be some way to convert it into a group of smaller files that would be more suitable for your phone.
