I have successfully set up my RAZR as a USB modem for my laptop... I followed a guide on Wiki which had me set up the phone to dial like *99# or something like that to get an internet connection. I'm not paying T-Mobile for any additional internet service but someone told me that the EDGE service was free of charge. I think im a little confused.

Can someone tell me whether or not you can get net service from a T-Mobile RAZR to a laptop and whether or not it costs anything. Because right now, my phone connects to the number like its working, but I cant access any websites.

T-Mo's internet does cost money. I think it's like $5.99 for unlimted WAP and $20.00 for unlimited internet through GPRS. I think what they were trying to say is that EDGE doesn't cost anymore than the regular GPRS. I'm assuming you can't access any sites because you don't have a data plan. I myself have the unlimited and I think it's worth it.

What kind of speeds can you get on the $5.99 unlimited WAP plan? Is it as good or better than 56k dialup net?

I believe you get the same speeds with both types of plan however WAP gives you text only. I think there's work arounds so you can use WAP for full internet, but not sure.

I just checked my speed now on www.dslreports.com/mspeed and on the 600kb test got 81kbit/s, 1.621s latency and 60.418 d/l time

a lot better than what I used to get on my 56k modem, but no where near 611 kbit/s (1mb test) I just got with the same laptop over WiFi (DSL).

Ok, I upgraded my plan so that I have the T-Mobile Web thing now, but I still cant access the net on my laptop. The connection seems to work, it dials and connects but no capability to access net sites.

When you try to start the connection are you supposed to enter a login and password? or just click connect?

ok... I need some help here... If you have the $5.99 tmobile WAP program, is there a workaround so that you can use the internet instead of their crappy wap sites?
