Ringtone is on phone but not in Ringer ID list

After I copied an MP3 ringtone to my V3 using Moto4lin on my Mac, it shows in my sounds list and I can play it from there. Sounds great. I can choose to "Apply as Ringtone" and get two choices: Line 1 and Line 2. I tried both choices but it does not appear in the Ring ID list of an addressbook entry when I choose to edit the entry although all the default sounds are there. Is there another way to assign a ringtone to an addressbook entry?

when you download sounds via cable or bluetooth with modding software, you must also erase the two .db files in the a drive audio folder. you then restart the phone and it rebuilds the list of ringtone files, which will then include your new downloads. this isn't necessary when using mpt.

If that Mac is Bluetooth capable, you can just send through the Bluetooth. Much easier than Moto4lin.

I can't speak for tadpole88 but I am the original poster. My Mac doesn't have BlueTooth. That's the reason I use Moto4lin. It is USB software so I don't need to buy a Bluetooth module. Now, back to jrsjr's suggestion "you must also erase the two .db files in the a drive audio folder". I like that suggestion and I am sure it will work. Please reply only if you can tell me (and tadpole88 and all the other non-Bluetooth people) what are the exact names of those two files? That will make life so easy for us. Thanks.

there are only two files- -MyToneDB.db and TempToneDB.db they should be in the folder /a/mobile/audio/

Deleted the two database files, that got the one tone working. Here is an odd twist about the Moto4lin application. After I deleted the two invisible files, the attribute box retained the check for invisible and applied that to all my subsequent ringtone downloads. It made them unseen in the sounds list after rebooting the phone. I had to connect phone with Moto4lin again, select all the sound files and uncheck invisible. Now all my groovy old songs from the 60's and 70's are ringing fine.

the "invisible attribute" is a nasty one! especially if you use a program like P2KTool 0.8.6 which will change the attribute but cannot see invisible files - hence it's lost - can make life very frustrating. glad you got things squared away!
