Has anyone unlocked a T-Mobile MDA and used it on Cingular service? I know it should theoretically work, but I would love to talk to those who have actually done it. I know someone selling an MDA for pretty cheap, so I want to make sure I can use it on Cingular. Thanks much!

yes you can

Should I flash a Cingular rom on it or something? Any downsides or disadvantages to using the MDA as opposed to the Cingular 8125?

My work mobile number is Cingular and my home mobile number is T-Mobile. I swap sims in my TMO branded MDA all the time and have no problems.

Not sure why you had to unlock the sim card .. I have unlocked over a dozen so far ... I have updated them and even edited the registry like crazy. People this phon e is among the easiest to use with other carriers. And Once you start editing the registry you can make it even faster more powerful and a great all around mini-pc.... I am using munes to download on ftp's and working on total cam usage via my MDA ....

you also can unbrand MDA to get rid T-Mobile settings
once today screen appears after hard reset, press reset or full off
then the components in \extended_rom\ won't be installed
