Difference in Roaming indicator on the Verizon V710 with 8700_01.40.0R Firmware

I have recently noticed that this phone does not have the Banner like my other phones used to have. I switched from the Audiovox 9155-GPX to the V710 because I wanted the camera and also need a tri-mode to guarantee coverage in my area. Memory card slot and Bluetooth is a bonus.

My question is that on my audiovox it would properly handle the roaming indicator, i.e. it wouldn't flash the triangle in an area that verizon had extended network with US Cellular providing coverage. With the V710 I am always seeing that the triangle is flashing on any network that isn't the home network contained in the "Menu>Phone Info>Other Information>SID" menu. Including when on other Verizon systems. For instance I recently traveled to Vermont, and the local verizon system was SID 300, the SID listed as my home SID is 28. While in Vermont I was able to use the wireless web, get it now, etc. and was able to update the PRL. My current PRL on this phone is 50558. and the PRL on my previous phone is 50558, to rule out someone saying that the two phones have different PRL's.

Well, thanks for reading, if anyone knows why, or has any ideas as to why this happens, please respond.

If you are using a verizon tower, it should say 1x on the V710 - mine always does, as far as I know. Have you done any seem edits? There is one seem edit that changes the Roaming Indicator.

What version ERI did the audiovox have? Maybe the different ERI's show a different RI?

In response to the Question regarding 1x, my phone ALWAYS shows 1x as US Cellular in most of the areas I go to have digital, but there are still a few areas that show analog only, which is why I have a tri-mode, otherwise I might have gone with the E815.

The ERI version on the Motorola V710 is 4
The ERI version on the Audiovox is 50018

I don't know what the difference is, but the banner on my V710 never changes, it only changes the roaming indicator to what i am going to call the "flashing triangle" While my Audiovox will show extended network instead of the flashing roaming indicator, which on the audiovox is the letters "Rm" in place of the triangle. Roaming indicator on the Audiovox never flashes in this area. And regardless my mobile-to-mobile always is free no matter whether I am on extended network or on verizon's own network. For instance most of my calls are from home during peak hours, on US Cellulars network in NH, and all the calls that are consided mobile-to-mobile, or "IN" are free, on both phones. One shows the blinking roam indicator, one does not. I also have noticed that the LG VX5200 that my girlfriend has also works like the Audiovox when the banner is concerned it will change to/from Extended network, although her area is fully covered by verizon native coverage so she almost never is on extended network, while i am almost always on extended network.

Either way the only difference I see is that PIX/FLIX doesn't work and also that Mobile Web or any GIN apps that need data access don't work.

The main question is if there is any way to get the motorola to show the banners that change when going from Verizon to Extended. I was recently in Vermont on Verizon SID 300, and even though I was on a Verizon system it was showing that blinking triangle making me think that I was on extended network.... that is until I tried updating the PRL and using mobile web, although after this the triangle was still blinking.

I have no idea.
I've seldom been on anything but a Verizon tower, so I don't have any idea how all that stuff works - or what features work with what carriers, or anything like that.
I'm not even sure what the "banner" is that you are referring to - I guess I'm rather clueless.

You might want to ask in the Verizon phones > Motorola forum - that forum gets at 1000 times more traffic, and those guys surely know.
