Free CID unlock for qtek 8500

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Let me get this straight. There currently is no free CID unlocker for the Qtek 8500?

Posted by: Ishimaru

not at the moment

Posted by: Ya Bo7med

When is the official date for a new qtek 8500 ROM that should fix the missing call issue? I don't think its worth paying $40 bucks to get it CID unlocked.

Its being worked upon right now and should be available any day now.

I thought it was already done?

Any ETA?

Posted by: futuredoc

Soon my friend, soon

Define "any day". Presumably, it will be released during daytime SOMEWHERE, so all "any day now" specifies is that it will happen at some future date.

Out of curiosity, do you work with SPV Developers?

Posted by: futuredoc

Nope

Patience pays though

How did you get the information it will be ready any day now? I asked Smart Mobile Gadgets just a day ago and he had no idea when the updated ROM would be released

He used his magic 8 ball of course! I'm not in dire need to CID unlock my phone and switch ROMs, so I'm waiting patiently.

"Any day now"? Seems I've heard that before. My guess is that the new Qtek ROM will be available the same day the free CID unlock is released...

Whoa Whoa Whoa....

Hold your horses fellas!

I was referring to the availability of a free CID unlocker to be available any day now, not the new ROM!!! Sorry if i wasn't clear enough earlier. I have no idea about the new ROM...

I understand you reluctance to announce a specific release date for software such as the unlocker; however, there are many of us who depend upon our 8500. We need to correct the "missed call" problem ASAP. Would/Could you tell us; will we have to wait at least say .............. another week or can we expect the unlocker within this week. Thanks!

Cool. Sorry for the confusion. So let me rephrase...

The "free" CID unlocker will probably come out around the same time the new Qtek ROM is distributed. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for either to come out anytime soon. (Unless of course someone rescued Zone-MR from that heavy object)

Edit: See my post in spv-forums for clarification on the "heavy object" reference...

yea, i just paid the $38 and installed the i-mate ROM. I hope it fixed the missing call problem.

Thats interesting, in an email response last week he told me that he was waiting for final word from HTC last week. I wonder which statement is more accurate...

I think HTC has got their energy focused on the releases of the Cingular 3125 and Orange F600. They are probably making sure that these don't get released with Qtek-type issues....

I am willing to bet that after at least the Cingular 3125 launch (rumored to be later this week) that they'll put a little more effort into the Qtek firmware fix.

But by then, many of us may already switch to the Cingular ROM, as I betting it'll have the most free memory available out of the box due to Cingular's need to support Goodlink!!!

I paid to have my CID unlocked and installed the i-Mate ROM. A piece of cake, even for an Alabama country boy. I'm glad that I did it and got past all of this crap. Now I can enjoy my new smartphone.

Me for the past few days

Me now
