I have Motorola Razr V3c Verizon. Version: GATW_01.0F.02

My friend gave me his MPT cd and I installed it on my computer. I received all the updates for the MPT and it finally recognized my phone. However, I cannot transfer my contacts, txt messages and pictures between my computer and my cell phone

When I hook it up to my computer, the program starts initializing process and in 4-5 seconds, it finds the phone. During this time, phone beeps every 3-4 seconds. When it syncs the phone, all the menu options becomes available on the MPT menu. But when I want to see my contacts, I lose the connection.

MPT tries to connect to the phone for about 10-15 seconds and then it says, connection failed...

I don't understand what the problem is... I know that the connection is established at first. I am sure of that because my phone beeps plus I can dial some number through MPT and when I hit the send button, it goes through and the phone calls the number.

All I want is to get a backup of my contacts and pictures in case I lose my phone or it stops working.

Can you guys tell me what the problem might be please??

And one more thing: I do NOT have a original USB cable. I am using the one that came with my Canon digital camera. They both are standard USB wires.
Just to make sure it is not the cable issue, I used another standard USB cable that came with my GPS. But neither worked

Can you guys help???
