Hydroxycut?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

has anyone used this while doing their workout routine?

i've been seeing their commercials alot and am thinking to try it out. i'm just cautious about popping pills that may do more harm than good, or simply do nothing at all.

Posted by: vikko

it does work but use it in moderation. its bad for your liver/kidney. cant remember which one, but its not natural so cant be great for your body.

i lost 40 lbps using hydroxycut over 6 months.

If you are looking to lose fat, it works. Downside is that it can many times cause more problems than good. Nothing works better for burning fat than good old exercise. Eating healthy and avoiding simple carbs along with exercise will do wonders. If you are looking for a good supplement, try green tea. It's much safer and natural. Also, foods like celery burn more calories just through digestion than they contain. So in a sense, eating celery will burn fat.

i exercise regularly...1 hr per 3 times a week. i rotate between cardio and strength training. i've even added swimming and pilates.
however, i'm just not where i want to be. i've been working out for more than 5 years now, but i still haven't reached my ideal physique. i do try to watch what i eat, but sometimes, i'll give myself a treat and eat what i'm craving. i love green tea, and i drink it every morning.

i guess i'm just desperate to get the extra fat off since i've been doing the "right thing" for so long and i just want to get to my goal already.
i was never for taking fat burning supplements. i'd rather do it the natural way. but i guess i'm that desperate to consider it now.

i wonder...does it get you addicted?

and btw, i hate celery, so that's a no go for me.

Good job on sticking to it for so long even if you weren't seeing the results you wanted, that's motivation there. I guess I'd say that if you have the time, bump it to 5 days a week with the rotating. Work out 3 days consecutively, take a day off. Repeat. Also, are you drinking green tea that is made with the teabag and stuff or a bottled drink like liptons or nestea or any powdered drink. Anything other than tea in the bag does more bad for you than good. Those drinks that come in bottles or in powder form usually have a lot of sugar. Avoid all sugary drinks like juices and soda if possible. Also, stay away from processed foods. If it comes in a plastic bag or can or anything like that, it's usually full of preservatives and simple carbs. All in all, like you know. There is one way to burn fat, only one. Eat more calories than you burn, you gain fat. Eat less calories than you burn, you lose fat. That's the only way, other than lipo of course. Good luck.

thanks for the pointers!

the tea that i drink is from tea bags. the only time i drink the Lipton dirnks are when i eat out. and i don't drink pop anymore. i've completely cut that out of my diet a long time ago. however, i do love drinking juice -- cranberry, orange, fruit punch, etc.

a while back, i've jotted down what i've eaten and counted calories. that worked for a while, but i've stopped doing it. it got to a point where i was constantly worried about how much my calorie intake was, and was almost obsessive. it sucked because i was completely depriving myself of stuff that i loved to eat, and i would have these seriously major cravings where i'd end up binging. then i'd get depressed and hate myself over it. it was like an up and down thing.

maybe i'll start counting calories again, but not totally deprive myself. i just don't want to end up hating myself all over again.

Kiss....I used that stuff for a while....not so good. After a while you get dependant on them, but when you first start taking them, you have energy like you've never seen before. But if you do start, make sure it's the ephedra free ones, and never exceed the recommended dosage

Posted by: op487062

i'd stay away from anything that is a solution in a bottle. no replacement for hard work.

kiss, don't just do cardio, you have to mix in some weight training. can't stress that enough. my sister never listened to me when i told her several years ago. finally she tried it and saw noticeable results that she had never before. and don't worry you get HUGE, my sister hasn't and she has worked out 4-5 times per week with weights and cardio for a few years now.

the stuff is just basically couple forms of natural caffeine and appetite suppressors.. it doesn't really "work" as in burns fat.. but it does help a bit in addition to a workout routine.. the best thing it does is give you some motivation..

unless they still sell the one with ephedrine in the states.. then that **** works heh..

if u're looking for an extra push during a workout.. 8mg of eph is not something to worry about and it gives u a little more go so you can burn more calories..

dependency is one thing i'm concerned about, so i've started counting calories.
i do weights regularly; 2-3 times a week. and i agree, they are crucial to burning fat!
perhaps going the Hydroxycut route isn't right for me now. i badly want to shed my excess fat, but i've realized i'm not that ready to pop pills and take the easy way. sweating my *** off will do for now.

thanks for all of your input!

I just bought a bottle. I am using them in addition to an exercise routine. I used them in 2001 and lost 60 lbs over 7 months (used Hydroxycut every OTHER month for 6 mos). Weight stayed off for a few years.

^ how many pills a day do you have to take?

Posted by: op487062

don't do it kiss. you look great already (i've seen the pics)

Posted by: zkassam

I tried a couple of these things (Cuts from GNC and another brand). Personally, I found they helped at first but then my body adjusted pretty quickly and they weren't as effective.

Posted by: Data1025

Kiss,

I am taking 1 for lunch and 2 for dinner. None for breakfast.

thanks, but i wish i see what you see.

I used Cuts (GNC's alternative of hydroxycut, they are essentially the same thing). It definitely help me out alot, but I sometimes became constipated while using it. Sounds weird because nobody else I have asked had this side affect, but as soon as I came off it, my bowel movements were back to normal.

ok, here's teh lowdown on anything like hydroxycuts.....It is a stimulant...ephedra free or not...it's a stimulant. What happens is eventually you build a tolerance so it doesn't work so well after awhile. Also, your adrenal glands end up drained and exhausted. Then you feel like you have to take more just to keep active. This in turn actually SLOWS DOWN your metabolism. At first, yeah it seems like the greatest stuff in the world, but then BAM---nothing. you are actually doing more harm than good. Your adrenals are exhausted, your kidneys are strained and your mood will fluctuate. To answer why [DC584] was constipated, caffeine in any form can cause either constipation or the runs. At first it can cause the runs or make your bowels move more often than usual, but then it depletes the water from your bowels through dehydration. The only way to get rid of that side effect is to 1) stop using it, or 2) drink a ton of water which can then lead to other problems.....everything in moderation is the key. You have to look at your genetics as well as your age whatever those two factors hold for you. It is a major factor in the ability to lose or gain weight easily. Hope this helps.....

then you might want to ask yourself why you see yourself the way you do? Is there an underlying problem that is not being addressed? Trust me on this one, get help for those thoughts, it's not something that will just go away.....and it is something that will always haunt you and be there telling you to work out more, eat less, whatever your thoughts may be. Make sense?

One tip I got the other day is that it's tremendously helpful to divide your workout into something you can do twice a day so your body stays in fat burning and muscle building mode longer. If for example you go to work at 9 and get off at 5 then do something at 7:30 before work then at 6:30 or 8:30 after work. Even if it's just 30 minutes and 30 minutes as your time allows it will do well for you.

dont bother with hydroxy cut it no longer contains an ingredient called ephedra which is the main thing it used to have for losing weight. it wont work as well ne more without it. Instead look into hydroxycut harcore or lipo 6 check up on various products at www.bodybuilding.com

Kiss, I am in the same boat that you are while i was in college i gained about 15 pounds (God i love beer) that i am trying desperately to get off. I don't really look at myself in a negative way, but i have always been athletic so i don't like what i see as of lately.

The key to burning fat is cardio and eating right. I don't care what anyone else says it works. Yea, sure, lifting helps but im telling you cardio 30+ mins a day (5+ days a week) works miracles. It doesn't have to be a run, you just have to keep your heart rate up. Once you get to your ideal weight you can take it down to 2-3 days a week. Honestly though, with cardio you can never go wrong, you feel good and you look good with cardio.

Anyways, good luck with whatever you decide, but popin those pills will put you right back in the same boat you're in right now in 6-8 months.

yeah i see what you're saying. i'm aware of those thoughts and i think i know where they come from. but i just can't seem to get away from the negative thinking and the negative way i see myself. it's like a roller coaster. i need to fight it, but it's hard.

i'd seriously try that out if i didn't have so much crap going on throughout the day. i just can't find the time with deadlines to meet, studying, responsibilities when i get home, and time for me to catch my breath. i'm so burned out.

yep, i went through that freshman 15 too! it was horrible.
well thus far, i've decided not to go the pill route. i'm trying to eat right, but it's hard when i'm always on the run. fast food is so tempting and convenient. i may have to hold off on reaching thinness for a while. i'm slowly seeing the fat accumulate, which is frustrating and distracting from what i need to focus on right now in my life. i wish there were more hours in a day. it would help alot.
