I got a Cingular 8125 a few days ago and desperantly want to like the phone and keep it but I find too many issues I do not like. Please help me figure out if it is user related or is as good as it is going to get.

Firstly I read a lot of reviews where people state call clarity and speakerphone quality is great. I find the speakerphone horribly bad. So much so that I cannot hear the person on the other side. Especially with higher pitched voices. On the flip side other peope hear me fine when I use the speakerphone. Also call clarity is just so-so.

I also what a good quality alarm clock. The reminder beep from the built in clock is very bad and there is no easy way (without the stylus) to turn it off. Also for some weird reason there is a 2 hour difference between eastern and central standard time??? So I live in Chicago and set my time/date. Then I fly to DC and want ot use the "away" clock and set the time zone to eastern and it adjust the time with 2 hours. This throws out the built in alarm.

I have a few more issues but this is enough for now...

I agree the alarm is a little quiet, but it wakes me up everyday, the softkey on the front shuts it off. The speakers lack somewhat when outside, but I rarely use the speakerphone. Call quality is not great, especially in really poor service areas, but I have rarely had a dropped call and nobody has said I sound bad. I have no problem with the time, my device shows only a one hour difference on the East coast and switches without any issues.

To sum it up, I always joke that this thing does everything but act like a phone very well. It acts like the beast it is, a computer. I bought the thing two weeks after I found out such things exist with built in wifi. Since then I have had a great time, with my little computer that fits in my pocket and acts like a phone. So it's up to you did you think you were buying a phone or a computer, that's the question.

I guess I need to ask more specific questions....

1)Is there a free alarm clock download that can be recommended?

2)Why is there a 2 hour difference on my phone when switching between central and eastern time?

Wirelessly posted (whatever the next lines says: HTC-8100/1.2 Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; PPC; 240x320))

have you tried just changing the time in the vistor time. if you tap the time on you main screen it will com to home time and vistor time just click vistor. then wjen your done go back to home time as for alarm have you tried changing the the tone ? maybe adding your own wav tone.

The time issue has probably to do with daylight savings time.
The Alarm on mine is fine and does its job.

As far as the speakerphone is concerned what device are you comparing the speakerphone from the 8125?

Personally the only other speakerphone that I found to be of any use was the Nextel ones since they are very loud and can be heard even when outdoors.
All others are either bleh or down right unuseable. Now the 8125 works fine indoors but outdoors I dont use.

I'm liking this phone so far. I`ve had it for about a week. Calls come in clear and loud enough...I have had no problem with that. Yea, I wish the speaker was a lilttle bit louder. Processor speed is also a downside...webpages over my wifi load kind of slow. Those are really the only issues I have wit the phone.

Also, on-board memory is deff not enough. You deff need to get a memory card. With all the programs and media, space is gonna run out quick.

the alarm volume is controlled by the main volume, try to move the volume slider to adjust (usually I set my MDA to 4-5, which is enough to wake the whole room ppls up)

I figured out the time issue - user issue! I had the Central time set to "central America -6" instead of "Central US -6" I guess there is no daylight savings in "Central America". Stupid on my part.
As far as the alarm - setting the main volume high has got a downside as any email coming in will also give a beep and wake me.
I see some try before you buy software out there - I guess I will give it a try and see how it goes. Probably have to spend $10-15 on it if it works.

asfar as the procesor speed, you can overclock it with OMAPCLOCK 252Mhz easy. goog luck, marek

I thought the safety limit on the 8125 was 240 MHz?
