I was wondering if anyone knew how to cut an mp3 into about 30 seconds for a ringer. I heard that you need to do this because your voicemail picks up after 30 or so seconds. Please Help.

I use Cool Edit Pro 2.1 or Adobe Audition or create ringtone and it even sends to ur phone via BLUETOOTH, INFARED or WAP! but not Adobe/Cool Edit.

i also save as .mp3, because it supports that, depending on what phone.

I agree, Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) is a very good audio editor. Completely freeware too. No spyware or anything, no worries. Just import the mp3 (wav, midi, ogg, wma etc) into the window, select the part you want and copy+paste into a new window. Then in the file menu click export to mp3. It will save the 30 sec you want as an mp3. Then just transfer to your phone. Worked perfectly for me.

sorry but the mobile phone tools is by far the best and the easiest and alot less easier than that up there ^^^^^ .........hell its even Kyocera Mobile Phone tools........I mean golly gee!

If you use Audacity and once you get the song to be about 20 to 30 seconds how do you make the smaller...Ones that I have been doing is like 110kb compared to the ones that I download from get it now at 11kb.....HELP!!!!

EXP Studio Audio Editor from download.com save it as an mp3 onto my computer and email it to my phone through my phones mms.mycricket email address and my phone downloads it, i save it, done and done. it's completely free... and you can also send wallpapers and photos and stuff to yer phone through that address, if you have texting through cricket, the address would be 0000000000@mms.mycricket.com

The 11k ones would be midi files, which are just polyphonic. Unless I am missing something. But if you sent a "Real" ringtone, its an mp3 file which is a completely different format. Midi files are just the notes in the file, to be decoded by the phone itself and transformed into music. For lack of a better definition. MP3 or "Real" tones, however, are an actual recording of real sound, and therefore are a lot bigger file.

Audicity is what I use aswell.

by fa the easiest if you can't get mpt to work. These are simple instructo!

figured it out. It took a while, but I found the right way to do it:

Import an mp3 into Audacity.

Choose the 30 seconds you want out of the mp3 and delete the rest.

In the bottom left, choose 16000hz for the project rate.
*EDIT* you can leave it at 44,100. I just tried it and it made no difference in file size.

Click file > Preferences > File formats and change bitrate to 32.

Do the Quick mix.

Then you'll notice that your song grew a few seconds after the 30 second mark. Delete that extra stuff.

Click the drop down arrow next to "mix" and shoose separate stereo tracks.

Turn left track to mono.

Delete right track.

Export to mp3.

Then either you're done, or you can change mp3 file extension to .mid

If you're final product crackles, then you need to slide the gain to the left and then "save as mp3" again. I had to slide my ""'Coldplay-Clocks" to -15db before it would stop crackling.

GOD NO ^

Use Kyocera Mobile Tools.......all you have to do is open the song up........click on the part of the song u want, hit save and then send it to ur phone......thats all

Mobile phone tools is by far the most simplest and easy to use no crackling no having to make adjustments for anything cuse its made for YOUR phone so everything works just fine

I dunno, I like audacity. Its really not as hard as it sounds. It takes me all of 30 seconds to cut the track to 30 seconds then I just send it over MMS to my phone or i just put it on my card.. and either way i don't have the usb cable. do you need it for kyocera mobile phone tools?
