Hi gang,

i really want a 650, but seems the only way i can afford one is via a contract on orange.

what worries me is the branded software that comes with it, ie, homescreen.

i have a tungsten t so i would like to transfer my software onto the treo.

can you debrand, or change the homescreen on the orange 650??

thanks

Orange is a Company in Europe..... Usually found in the UK along of o2 and Vodafone. Orange was the 1st carriers of the windows smartphone.

Hi, thanks for your replys....

Sorry i always presume .....

Orange is prehaps the UKs largest mobile phone provider and has networks across europe. It invests heavily into 3G etc etc and as symbianblack rightly notes, they are usually the first (i think they were the first for treo too with the 600) as they are a major provider for business they sell a lot of smartphones including the HCT meteor etc.

The only anoying thing is that orange insists on putting their own stamp on things, and the homescreen is one such thing, its the same homescreen for symbian, windows mobile 5 and palm regardless of manufactuer....why? i dont know because its not great.

If i get a 650 i would like to use my Facer homescreen (diary, task and shortcuts) instead of oranges attempt.

I dont know if cingular or any of the other US companies do the same, but if they do, does the treo have an option to change the homescreen so when i finish a call and press the homescreen, you can use a third party application?

Phew...

I'm pretty sure you will be able to de-brand it, only way to know for sure is find someone that has done it or try it yourself. I'd do a search over at treocentral and see if anyone has done it.
