RAZR V3 - Odd P2K Driver Issues - HELP?

I have been reading lists and FAQs on the net trying to solve this problem for about a month now. I've got a software engineering and systems admin background, so, I am very familiar with the OS and hardware...
I Have: RAZR V3, 7.D0 Bootloader, Cingular branded, (Unmodified).
I am running Windows XP SP2.
I can fire the phone up and it talks over P2K fine in flash mode. I've been able to make backups of the phone and verify the interface works. I was able to downgrade the bootloader without issues.
I can talk to the RAZR with MPT but no other apps while not in flash mode.
I also have a couple of V180E phones that do talk to the software properly in all modes. I have seen various threads that make vague mentions to people having these kind of problems but as of yet, nothing that has solved anyone elses problem has worked. I have tried three diferent PST versions, RSD Lite, P2kAe, P2kTools, P2kcommander, Motokit, etc, etc. I have had just about every permutation of drivers installed and have not gotten anywhere. This does seem to be a real problem that others have had... For what it matters when I run a non mpt p2k app, the phone will cease charging after about 10 seconds. If there is no p2k program running it will continue to work. Once it times out, MPT will not work again until I unplug and replug the phone.
The p2k programs would not cause the additional driver (accessory etc) to be installed with the RAZR. The OS does see a Motorola V3 as it is indentified by the new hardware wizard. However when I plug the V180 in, 'V180ENS' is recognized and all the additional drivers load fine...
I've seen mention of changing the USB settings on the phone, but, I do not have that option on my Settings/Connection menu.... I have a bluetooth and sync options...
Questions:
can p2k programs use bluetooth? (I have not tried this yet)
How do I set the USB options on my phone for "Data/Fax"?
Is it possible to seem edit/modify a flashblackup of the phone and restore it to activate mods? The main mod I NEED is in the gaintable which I cannot access.
What could I be missing that my v180 works and the razr does not?
Any other insights would be helpful...
Thanks in advance,
John

You cannot run MPT and any other program at the sme time.....No you cannot bluetooth P2K. Try uninstalling everything you have(I know it's a pain) reinstall MPT first then PST,RSD. then anything else you want. Use the driver pack 2.9 nd point the data logger and so forth to it and you should be fine....sometimes for some reason some peolple have to have pst or RSD lite running in th background for P2K to work....
Hope this helps...

Yeah, tried that. I know I cannot run MPT with another p2k program at the same time. I have also tried with three versions of PST, both in the background and not. Also the same with RSD... I've uninstalled everything about 50 times and tried every possible combination and order of things. The p2k programs don't ever talk to the RAZR.. :-< Although, I can see combonations that the V180 doesn't work... As it stands now, I've got it setup in the way that most conforms to everything that I read, and it is working with the V180 flawlessly. (And exactly in the order you described) I also gave this a quick one shot try on another windows XP Sp2 machine and had the same results. Heck, I've even heard that MPT can cause problems, so, I've tried an install without it... Again, same results, V180 good, RAZR bad... There has got to be something simple there that is playing havok with this. I really don't want to try to get into this debugging windows at the system level... Might be able to find it that way, but, it also might take me another month. Seems like a huge time investment for a couple of five minute mods. Is there any other way to turn the earpiece volume up other than the gaintable direct edit?
I am using the 2.9 drivers, but, just for clarification what file size and time/date stamp is on your p2k.sys?
If there was some way to modify/seem edit a monster pack I could just mod the phone from flash mode and call it a good day. I would imagine that it wouldn't be horribly painful to code something like that, I just haven't seen it yet.
Did you run into this behavior before you reinstalled everything? What about the USB link timing out after 10 seconds once a p2k program was launched. You see this at any point? Looking for clues.....
Thanks..

UPDATE
At this point I believe I have eliminated the driver as causing the problem. With the software as it is setup now I was able to talk to an older RAZR phone without issues. I have tried 6 different monster packs on my phone, none changed the lack of p2k functionality. It looks like what I am left with is something wrong with the hardware in my phone. :-< Any suggestions? Is there any differences between that first RAZR that came out and the newer black one (that I have)?
For now, what I'll end up doing is loading my monster pack on the other phone, modify it to my liking, and make a new custom mp and load it back on my phone.
On a side note, is there any way to make a .hs flex file from a custom backup or a monster pack? I have LeaderGL Flex Editor, and it wants a .hs file, or to be able to talk to my phone over p2k (which still doesn't work). I would figure that I should be able to modify the flex files for all of the mods that I want and put it back on the phone. But, so far, I am thwarted... The flex editor in shxcodec won't "parse" because the button is greyed out... Is this feature not finished in the software or something? Anyone get it working?
I guess I'm dead in the water until I get access to that other phone again here in a few days.
thanks...

Success!!!!
I had a very happy accident last night.
Earlier in the afternoon I was helping a friend over the phone with his RAZR V3c.. I opened up P2KCommander (3.3.0 beta) and tried to hook into my RAZR (Expecting it to fail, and it did). I hooked my V180 up instead so I could navigate around the program while I was having him try a couple of things. This of course worked fine. When I was done I left and forgot to close down P2kCommander.
Later on when I had returned to my computer I was on the phone and got the low battery blip, so, I hooked the phone into the computer to charge it. (Not remembering what software I had opened and minimized) The phone charged for about 10 seconds and quit (Like it normally does when a p2k program is open).
I realized my error and unhooked the phone and prepared to close the app when I noticed the message coming from p2kautostart in the systray stating that the phone had switched to p2k mode....
Befuddeled I played with it for a minute and discovered that with this software if I quickly unhooked the usb cable and hooked it back up quickly after the phone would charge when the message came up, the phone ended up in p2k mode. (for real)
I was able to use every piece of software that has been thwarting me for the last few weeks and was able to finish modding my phone. Go figure.
I'm not exactly sure why this did what it did, but, it made my night... On a side note, occasionally the phone will get moody when I plug it into the travel charger and the speakers will mute while the phone is charging, (muting the ring tones / sys tones etc) If I quickly unplug and replug it (and I mean quicky) The speakers will come back on and the phone will keep charging normally. (This is what gave me the idea to unplug/replug while trying to get into p2k mode.)
Clearly my phone has problems, (water damage from previous owner) but, I figure with the number of people I've seen with similar issues that this might help someone get around their problem. It doesn't always work the first couple of times I do it, my phone is a bit moody to say the least.
I am not 100% certain that I don't have to hook the V180 (or some other working phone to get the driver happy, as it said when it made the final switch, that my V180ENS had switched to p2k mode, even though it was my RAZR. All of the software properly recognized my phone as the V3 and I had no other issues.
I had already done about 70% of my mods on my phone on someone elses hardware and made a monster pack (which worked great) But, after using my new MP for a while discovered even more things I wanted to customize. I was looking at having to acquire another phone again until my happy little accident last night....
I hope this is helpful to someone else besides me... :-)
