Problem with Spec? What Is Maximum MicroSD Capacity for V360

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

The specs that came with my V360 state that the maximum capacity of the micro-SD transflash memory card is 512MB.

However, I have been reading multiple ads and web references that state the maximum capacity for the V360's micro-SD is actually 1GB.

Before I purchase my high-capacity memory card, can someone confirm that you are in fact using a 1GB micro-SD in the V360, and that the entire capacity is available and usable by the phone?

Conversely, if you have tried a 1GB memory card, and it caused problems, please let us know that as well.

Thanks.

As I see it, there are 3 possible answers to my question:

1) The V360 can in fact use a 1GB transflash module, and the full 1GB is completely available for use by the phone.

2) The V360 can in fact use a 1GB transflash module, BUT the actual memory usage remains limited to 512MB.

3) The V360 is in fact limited to a PHYSICAL memory limit of 512MB, and anything over that will cause problems.

The importance of option 2, is that I can buy a high-capacity 1GB transflash module. This module is compatible with BOTH my V360 and my digital camera. If I can buy and use a 1GB module, I'll get the best benefit if I later decide to change phones but keep the transflash memory card for use with my camera. In other words, why be stuck with a 512MB card, if the phone in fact works with 1GB card...but just has an operational capacity limit?

It works with a 1GB card, just don't expect a full gig. Formatting takes a little away and it's not a binary gig I don't think, so that takes a little away. But yeah you get like 990MB or some thing like that. I don't have a gig card in mine yet but I know people who do.

My only question is, can it handle a 2GB card? I'd think it could, but I'd rather see confirmation before I pick one up. *lol* But I'm prolly only gonna get a 1 gigger.

i use 1 gig in a v635 - the phone sees it but the standard moto audio player will not read past 512 and gives me an application error after trying to read the music library

Thanks folks. 1GB it is then.

Now, if only caller ID pictures could get their data from the microSD instead of the phone's puny 6MB of memory.

Ok....is there a SEEM, menu, or other means of making the phone store them on the transflash chip? (I couldn't find one)

Thx.

It's a SEEM edit that allows you to access the pictures from the card. If you want your ringtones on the card too, that requires the ABR flash.

I don't recall what SEEM it is offhand, it's enabled in I think all the MP's, so I've not had to touch it in some time.

I'll dig and see if I can find it again if you don't find it first.

correction - i have found that the DAP on my v635 will see past 512mb - i was in error. my difficulties were due to the fact that my file names of my mp3's were too long. once i fixed all the file names and simplified the id tagging (didn't remove completely) I can now see 780mb worth of music on the 1 gig card. I can still save pics and other items to the TF as well. I have not made any seem edits to change this. I dont know off of the top of my head what flex/flash I am running (at work out in the field right now). Also I just want to say that I am not sure how many similarities there are between the 2 phones. I am making some assumptions that things are relatively the same

I got a response from Motorola support that they now support and sell 1GB memory for the V360.
