Motorola Q...I got issues!!!

I got the new Moto Q...I have some issues I want to see if anybody else who has purchased this phone has.

And, the developers/writers of the freggin manuel only show simple basic stuff that I can learn on my own playing on the phone.

1. I cannot seem to figure out how to carry and protect the thing while traveling (the leather case I have for it pushes the buttons to some other screens and accidentally calls people) without locking the phone up with a password. Problem with this lock is that you can't answer the danged phone if it rings.

2. If I don't want to stay on the internet all the time, how do I stop the connection? (It wears out the battery if it is connected all the time.)

3. It has something called "Profiles" where it will be labled Normal, Car, Meeting, ect. You get to set each one on how you want the phone to ring, what ring tone to use; practically adjust any sound that comes from any function on the phone. Well, most times, when I set it to Normal, it will switch automatically on it's own to Car. I didn't understand this especially when the instructions specifically say it only switches when it is attached to a car kit. I don't even own a car kit.

4. How in the world can I get BitPim to recognize the phone and how do I get all of my info in it? I am going to just take my phones to verizon to have them switched for $10 but I wanted to know this method in the future.

Thank you for help!!!

Ok, I think I have the solution to at least one of my problems...

#1. There are two methods for locking the keypad:

Method 1
1. Press and hold the home key. The Quick List displays.
2. Highlight and select Key Lock. (Once the keypad is locked, the left soft key label changes to Unlock)

Method 2
Press the home key then the space key.

To unlock the keypad, press Unlock (Left Soft Key).
When the unlock screen displays, press the * key

Note: If keypad will not unlock, use the following sequence: press the home key, spacebar, unlock soft key, then asterik

#2. The Motorola site says I could use flight mode to cut off all antena signals, but that would also cut off use of the phone.

#3. Still don't have a freggin clue!

QUOTING chicagoavonlady: I got the new Moto Q...I have some issues I want to see if anybody else who has purchased this phone has.

As the fellow above, key lock or a forward facing case.

2. If I don't want to stay on the internet all the time, how do I stop the connection? (It wears out the battery if it is connected all the time.)

It really doesn't, other things like running BT and MSN all the time uses more. Even though it says connected, unless something is using the connection, it isn't using much of battery OR data.

They are talking about switching automatically! Like when I turn on my BT headset or plug in a wired one it switches to headset profile. I'm guessing if you had a BT car kit it would do the same.

4. How in the world can I get BitPim to recognize the phone and how do I get all of my info in it? I am going to just take my phones to verizon to have them switched for $10 but I wanted to know this method in the future.

You can't, bitpim is for regular phones using the qualcomm chipset, and file system. The Q uses windows, so you have to use active sync. But it syncs with outlook no problem. So if you have everything on your PC you can sync that way. Mac's I don't know, but I hear it's possible. When I switched from my treo I was on the road and just used BT to transfer the vcard files from it to my 15 minute old Q.

Thank you for help!!!

Hope I did!

To stop a runnng program on your Q go to start then settings then task manager and select kill all. Also to save battery life go to your settings and under connections select beam. Make sure incomming is unchecked. If it is checked it will be constantly searching and eat up your battery fast.
