ok peeps, the guy that sold it to me finally wrote me back. He claims that the phone had no password! He said he had it working fine. So i guess i am SOL! I tryed to do a hard reset but nothing.

thats bull i would be so pissed, why don't you file a paypal dispute, can i see the auction?

under this condition, try to format it
with full power off (take the battery out and put it back in), press and hold comm manager and voice command buttons, then press power button till you see a notice on the screen, then press green button
the phone will hard reset (erases all settings, and reverted to factory original)
hope this helps

1st edit:
since I see the op did hard reset, try to do this before it's getting serviced
dl the latest ROM update
with the unit plugged, run ROM update
if things go well, you should see a brief tri-color screen, then a flash progress screen
same version ROM flashing is OK

if it still don't work, try to post the problem on pocket pc, T-Mobile MDA/SDA forums; and forums.xda-developers.com

you need to go to www.xda-developers.com and download lokwiz and unlock your pda make sure to do it without sim card inside. you will find all the info on their website. good luck. marek

to unlock the HTC (Cingular) 8125 is it the lokiwiz03a.zip that I need? It was posted as lokwiz but I'm pretty sure I'm looking at the right one but just want to make sure so that I don't mess my phone up. Also, is it recomended to do the official update from http://www.htcamerica.net/support/c..._downloads.html first before unlocking the phone?

Thanks!

You may try to update rom with mr.clean aku2.3 , I did it yesterday it removed sim lock as well all the carrier stettings and works great. just type that into search on www.xda-developers.com and it will pop out for sure. they have bunch of stuff you might find usefull there, wifi upgrade, today plugins etc.
Have fun, Marek

Thanks mareklab@yahoo,
If I do the mr.clean aku2.3 does it completly delete every thing off the phone? Contacts, programs that I've installed and so on? You said it also removed the SIM lock, have you tested this out yet with a T-Mobile SIM card just to verify? Thanks!

It will delate your conbtacts, programs will stay (word, excel etc, not skype and others that you downloaded by yourself) Rom upgrade will take only 5-10 minutes and then some extra time if you would like to download extra stuff.
mr.clean 2.3 comes with some more features than regular rom. I like it so far a lot and didn't find anything bad about it. Let me know how does it work on your PPC. Later, Marek

I forget about sim lock. My device comes from Orange-euro gsm provider and right now I am using Cingular so no problem. Just in case if rom update will not remove your sim lock go ahead with lockwiz (that you founded already), but one thing you have to remember NO SIM INSIDE WHEN USING LOKWIZ (to avoid roam sign-triangle) ok it should fix all your problems if you will have any futher questions email me mareklab@yahoo.com good luck. Marek

I just updated the ROM on my 8125. I backed up everything but my contacts, because I thought that it wouldn't delete the info on the sim. I was wrong and my contacts were deleted. Is there anyway to get them back?

I don't know, you didn't write them propably on sim right way(select all, write on sim and save the changes etc) Anyway that's why it is always good to do it without sim inside. sory about your loose, but I am sure you'll get them back one by one. take care, marek

if you sync your contact with Outlook/MS Office through async, you'll get them back
just MAKE SURE you sync contacts w/outlook or MS office, then you'll be fine
