Has anyone been able to flash their 6131?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I wanted to flash a different language pack on my 6131 following the instructions posted in the sticky over in S60 forum, but I get errors from Phoenix. Has anyone here flashed their 6131 successfully? If so, can you post what you had to do differently from the thread/BB5reaper/dogtoe instructions?

The biggest thing people keep talking about is that you should leave your SIM card in the phone. That's the best I could come up with without you saying anything about what errors Phoenix is giving you.

Thanks, I'll try with the SIM. If I get that error again, I'll capture and post it.

Did you follow these instructions?

It turned out I was using the wrong image file, I needed to use rm115__03.70.mcusw to get it going. However, it died midway through the process and so far I was unable to revive it.

What happened....the phone just died half way thru? Was the battery low and died?

No, the battery was fully and freshly charged. At some point during the flashing the PC made the sound like when USB device connects/disconnects and the communication stopped, then eventually it timed out. And the dead phone reviving doesn't work because Phoenix can't extract the "Product code" from the RM-115 package, so I can't use the flash dead phone option.

So you followed all the above instructions.....with the software and everything.....
So now you still have a dead phone?

You definitely can do it yourself. Once the SW installation was done properly, flashing is a breeze.

I just flashed my 6131 to v3.70 last night after many hours trying to retrieve the softwares and installing them correctly. The only noticable difference between v3.50 and v3.70 is the keyguard autolock feature. There is no need to flash your phone unless you have a lot of patience and pocket change. You can easily turn your 6131 into a paper weight.

This is the first Nokia firmware flash that I've done myself. I have to say it was nerve wrecking when the phone screen went blank, and the flashing progress bar got stuck at 5% for several minutes without any hint something was happening.

The guide at nokia.dogtoe.com is incomplete for our phone (6131). You will need Phoenix 2006 and Phoenix 2006 crack to get it working. I will write a guide later this weekend unless someone beats me to it. For now, find yourself a software called BB5 Reaper V2.xx. It has everything you need.

This guide is as complete and accurate as I've seen.

The link above requires registration to view the flashing guide. I've found a better one. No registration required. Also, there is a visual guide in BB5 Reaper.
