is it just me or is the sk3 gettin lame already?

Think about 350 for basically stuff we already had razr and other phones can do almost more then a sk treo 650s and 700s can also its kind of sad when sk users get super excited about being able to change backgrounds on your phone when there's phones that have been doing that for years video is old news especially on s phone so why should sk customers have to suffer without it? Its very odd to me I'm really lookin into the 700p or w cause this phone is late if this phone what have came out late early 2005 it would have been ok but now it seems like just a smack in the face. Even if there are other version coming out its crazy!

I just got rid of a Treo 700w and I absolutely would NOT recommend it. It is an extremely BUSINESS oriented phone aimed at the stuffy corporate world. It's competition for the Blackberry market. It's a solid phone, but has lots of problems with memory. There is nothing "fun" about it. It's basically like carrying a small Windows problems, with all the problems associated with Windows.

I always say that smartphones running Windows Mobile are like a PC, while a Sidekick is like a Mac. It just works.

nah i think the sk3 is gr8 right about now. Its a fun device!! I mean it may not be as updated as these newer pocket pc's and things like that, but if have to think about wether you need a pocket pc or a sk3 then the sk3 is for you. pocket pc's are BUSINESS orientated just like Vassago says. I jsut think the sk3 is perfect right now, AIM..MSN..and yahoo and a SO SO web browser in my pocket. What more could i ask for? Windows media player and microsoft word?....I dont think so.

I love the Sk3.

I think the only lame thing about it is the battery life. I can't wait for an extended battery or SOMEthing to make this thing at least last through the day for me (with semi heavy use)!!! HELLLP!

I'm pretty sure this is a known issue. Try calling T-mobile and ask to speak to the Sidekick Data Group. They might need to send you a new battery

the sk3 does me well, I mean you get the best of all worlds, text and Im and web browsing all for $20, you cant beat that. I started to jump back into a MDA but dont wanna pay for all the web browsing and email when I am in front of a computer all day anyway

Yea, I love my SK3 but I'd give it up for a mac phone.. I don't even own a mac lol. But I do agree that this phone's consumer base may die out if the next sidekick doesn't come with it; it being somethin new and competitive towards other phones. Seems like they're relying on the OS and maybe the SK and SKII produced enough profit that they could care just a little less about sales failing for the SK3. I imagine the next sidekick will be much.. much better.. even if it is "supposed" to be just slimmer I think a vast amount of features will be added. I mean damn if we can't have free ringtones or apps without having to become a developer and voiding our warranty at LEAST give us something else other than the actual phone to play with for an additional feature.

I'm disappointed with it. I'm not upgrading from the SK2 because of the crappy upgrades they did, and the fact the battery life is worse than the SK2.

I'll be looking at a different phone now.

I think 300 and 2 yrs is a rip. so i returned mines and voided the contract. It was a cool phone though. To me, the sk3 and sk2 are basically the same.

If you've outgrown the Sidekick, I highly recommend a Treo. It's a mini-computer with a phone built in, it can seriously do 98% of what your home computer can do. A lot of people graduate to Treos when they realize how limited their SKs are. I just bought my 700p about a week & a half ago, and I'm thrilled with it. And guess how much I paid for it? $300! $50 CHEAPER than the SK3. Sprint is offering it for $400 + a $100 mail in rebate with new contracts.

It all depends on what you use it for really. If you don't use the data plan and you only use text then you're saving 5 bucks a month. *shrug*

He was talking about switching to the Treo 700p which has the Palm OS, not the 700w.

I agree that for the money, I think the Treo 700p is better deal. There's tons of software for the Palm OS that you can download and install on the Treo 700p. When you're viewing web pages, the screen resolution of the 700p will give you almost 3 times the viewing area over the SK3. The 700p has 320 x 320 screen resolution (102,400 pixels). The SK3 has 240 x 160 (38,400 pixels). Plus the web browsing speeds using the EVDO data access on the 700p (on the Verizon or Sprint networks) will be much faster than EDGE on the SK3, at least 4 times as fast.

I also agree with th original subject of this thread that the hype for the SK3 has definitely died quite a bit already. Many SK2 users will upgrade but I'm not sure if the new features will attract that many more new users. IMHO, they should have done much more with the SK3 especially increased the screen resolution to at least QVGA (320 x 240).

I really like the sidekick3 but I hate the phone part of it. I am finding it so inconvenient when used as a phone. Its a pain to dial the numbers with one hand and the trackball is too sensitive no matter what settings I have tried.

I've invested too much money to give it up now so I am gonna have to try and work with it. I must say for data, sms and Im its an awesome device.

Yeah I was extremely disappointed with the SK3. I ordered it... agreed to the contract... T-Mobile had it back a week later (and I only used it for 2 days before I decided to send it back, I just had to work).

The trackball really pissed me off as it was easy to "misclick", the loss of the dedicated speaker was a really retarded move considering that the earpiece is just not loud enough for people that are used to waking the dead when their SK2 rings, the battery life... dear lord don't get me started, the camera was craptacular, and on top of it all, the screen was exactly the same only it smudged easier!! All that for 300 bucks!? Please.

I'm using my SK2 right now until my Nokia 6822 gets here. That's just to tide me over til I move on to the Nokia E61. If Danger doesn't get their stuff together, they're not going to have a customer base by the time they decide to release a REAL upgrade for their Sidekick series......
