SK3 web browsing speed...

Has it improved any versus the sk2? I loved my sk2, but ended up selling it because the web browsing was just too damn slow, and that was the #1 reason I got it in the first place.

Been reading alot of reviews and most say it's basically the same, or worse..I thought this device was supposed to fix those problems?

Its basically the same. I dont really notice the difference so i guess its not that great

really and truly...the sk3 is nothing but a smaller sk2 with bluetooth and a memory card...oh and msn messanging

I saw a site somewhere that compared it (I don't remember what the site was), basically the SKII and SKIII connect to the internet at the same rate, but when it finally connects you'll see that the SKIII loads up the entire page much faster, images etc.

Was kind of hoping this wasn't the case. Oh well, I guess it will neve really be any faster if they continue using their current system of sending data through danger servers before it reaches the sidekick..atleast i think this is the way it works.

What a scam.

The download of websites IS much faster...but it still seems to take some time to connect/request to the server before it begins the website download.

its much faster for me..varies where you are i guess

connects and loads faster for me

The slow part is waiting for Danger's servers to reformat/reduce the page and data size. The download is pretty quick.

It seems quciker to me

I can't really compare the II to the 3 since I only tried the 3, but it just didn't do it for me. Downloading is pretty quick as others have said, but that wait on the Danger servers was just a killer. I switched to the 8700g after a week with the SK3. It's a great IM / txt device, but it's web abilities arn't so hot.

Well, I just got done activating mine and I do have to say the internet is actually browsable on this thing.

Web pages averaged around 15 seconds or so to finally load on my screen...compared to minutes on my old sk2

Build quality on the other hand seems to be worse than the sk2. the screen kinda wobbles around, and those little plastic things on the sides(maybe theyre removable, i havent really read the directions) keep moving around on me while im typing, making it feel like the device is gonna fall apart any second

not really sure ill keep it. if it was half the price, i would of been sold, but for 400 dollars, im not so sure the convenience of having the internet and aim at work for a couple of hours each day is worth the price...lol

is the sk3 faster than the treo 650?

Posted by: twotoes

don't really remember. i had a treo 650 a couple of months ago via the SERO plan, but ended up returning it since sprint service here was crap.

id say its about the same as the sk3

Well i think your SK2 wasnt getting that much reception because on my SIdekick 2 pages load in 5 seconds to 10 seconds but i do live near a Tmo antenna so i think it wasnt the sidekick and actually the reception.

a treo 650 will more than likely show a web page faster than a sk becuase there is less involved with loading up the web page. The sidekick has to request all the information from danger and they reformat the web page to fit on the sk screen whereas the 650 goes and gets all the info itself (basically no middleman).
