I just found out that there are better versions of Blazer and Versamail. Why are they not included, or at least free to download from Palm's website??? Does anyone have any experience with Blazer 4 for example? Is it really much faster than the one that comes with the Treo 650's???
Thanks everyone...

Honestly, there's no compelling reason to upgrade to those (if it's even possible; the .prc files from the 700p, for example, will not Hotsync to the 650 -- errors.). There really isn't much in the way of new features.

Wirelessly posted (Blackberry 7290: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98; PalmSource/hspr-H102; Blazer/4.0) 16;320x320)
um my 650 and every other 650 has Blazer 4.0......its ok.....xiino and opera both render much faster, but blazer is more stable.....

To answer your question, the same reason you can't get software updates on your iPod. Palm wants you to buy new hardware.

Yea, I've given up. OperaMini HiRes works blazingly (no pun intended) fast and Versamail is just a POS. I've been running Chatter for 3 months and I'm VERY happy with it. Thanks for everyone's replies.
