I am a Cingular customer so no palm 700w for me, which one would you take and why? also any other phones to recommend in this category? maybe a unlocked side kick 3?
I just bought a palm treo 650 last week (dirt cheap) and thinking about selling it and considering the 8125. Im more of a multimedia user, things i like about the 8125 are
-1.3 mega pixel camera w/ flash
-windows based, is there a learning curve for a pc user? (need verification)
-wi-fi! (selling point) does it work well? is internet browsing similar to a pc/laptop?
-Build in gps (ipaq)
i see the 8125 key pad has its numbers all in one row, is it difficult to make calls or is there a touch screen like the treo 650? also the treo's interface does kinda bore me, any way i can customize it like this? http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...highlight=today
also im a college student and loan officer so i do need a device to help keep me organized with school/clients, and the ease of syncing with outlook would be beneficial. I hear there are new smartphones coming in Oct. should i wait?
TIA

Well I jumped over to PPC from Palm. I have the 8125.
Camera - it looks good on paper 1.3 MP but it is at best OK. Better then most cell phones, not at good as a dedicated 1-2 MP camera.
Palm to PPC was not difficult at all. The WM5 operating system works better with memory cards then Palm. Also you can do all that Today Screen customizing which makes it very nice indeed... You will have to buy 3rd party apps to do much of this but I found that the apps are not that expensive
Web browsing with the built in web browser (Pocket IE) is really really good for a phone/PDA. I used to use a 3rd part browser on my Palm and PIE works as good if not better.
WiFi no issues, works fine for me on my Netgear router and the few hotspots I tried it on. Its quick and works fine.
GPS you can use any PPC package and a bluetooth GPS. I use iGuidance and an iBlue GPS. www.semsons.com offers good package deals. I find that having a seperate GPS is not a big deal since I am not constantly using it. Also you can pick the software you like. Tom Tom is another option. I find iGuidance to be easier to install, and use. Yes it adds around $150 to the price but again you get to pick your unit and software. Also you can position the GPS anywhere to get a good signal since its wireless and not built into the unit.
So far I like mine and don't miss my Palm at all...

You mention 3 of the best devices available, and you wouldn't go wrong with any of them. WM is simple to get to know if you use a computer at all. Learning curve is minimal.
I love my iPaq 6515 and much prefer it over the others. Other posters will give the nod to the Palm or 8125, or even suggest some of the other great devices not currently offered by Cingular.
If you can wait possibly a week or two, Cingular should have the new iPaq (6900 series) which offers some nice enhancements to the 6500 series. Don't hold your breath though, I've not seen any official release date from them yet.

I did some research and found out about the new phone from both hp and htc, they both look very promising but i know once its released to cingular its gonna carry a hefty price just like any new phone.
I just need to weigh out my options between the two, thanks for the replies!

i think that the treo 650 is the way to go... it has everything you'll need to use, and is the easiest one to use as well...

I'll throw out the E61 as well. No camera, but apparently great with multimedia. Myself, I'm pondering the 8125, E61, and new IPAQ and am starting to lose faith that the 6915 will ever be released.
