Does anyone get an "aircraft check" message right after power-on of their S55? This is a message asking me to confirm that I *really* want to turn the phone on
How do I get rid of this?

I get it aswell. I don't think there's an option to get rid of it. I am not sure how true this is as I haven't tested it out but I "heard" (being the key word) that they have that for 2 reasons.... 1 is safety and the second being you can configure the aircraft mode (I think it should be under the enviroment profiles if I am not mistaken) and basically you can access the menus on the phone but not make any calls while on a plane. I don't know how true this... but anyone that does know more about this please post as I am interested also.

I don't think there is an option to turn it off. If there is, it is well hidden.

All I know is if I don't confirm the turn on after a min or 2 it powers down automatically. I don't mind it so much to be honest coz alot of people I know love the start up animations I use aswell as the effects or voice texts so they always want me to power on my mobile to see.... this way if I forget to turn it off it does it on its own

Yeah, it hasn't bothered me, really.
OT, I think the p800 has an aircraft mode where you can just use the pda without the radio (phone) section?

The aircraft check comes on if the sim pin is not enabled. Just enable a pin number for the sim then the aircraft check goes away. This is to ensure that the phone does not turn on accidently in an aircarft. Unlike the 1900 mhz system in the US, the 900 mhz system does impact aircraft gauges because I was on a Lufhthanza flight from Frankfurt to Hamburg and the pilot came on and said that someone's phone was still on and he could not start until its was turned off and sure enough a lady had her phone in her purse on.

Thx for the tip Baker!

baker,
I find that hard to believe. Interesting story though.

Who knows maybe the pilot was just pulling someone's leg to test it out if anybody still had their phones on. The Germans are very strict about cellphones being on in planes. I was almost arrested on a plane because I was talking on the cell phone in the plane when it had just landed even though we were disembarking.

I agree with Baker when it comes with strictness in regards to mobile phones in Europe. When I was touched down in the UK last and the plane landed I opened my carry on grabbed my mobile, popped in my vodafone sim and turned it on. I was informed by flight staff that any calls to be made must wait until I get into the terminal and calls on board pre and post flight were highly discouraged. I have never had probs making pre and post flight calls in North America. Anyhow we've all gotten off topic lol. Back to the forum... see ya there.
