A plea for help (903)

Hi all,

I got my 903 today from ebay and it keeps giving me a "reprovisioning" error when i try to go into a menu. I saw somewhere else if you do a master reset it fixes it but now my signal has dropped significantly. I am using the Hong Kong software although, ideally I want to use the european flashed one. I cant find Sharp Tool availible anywhere on the net for free and paying for the software updates would be hard for me. I have a USB cable and I have the phone. Is there anything that could be done for the phone to make it 1. Have better signal, 2. get rid of the hong kong firmware and 3. Let me enjoy it!!!

Please help, I know there are people out there that can

I think Hong Kong firmware shouldn't have re-provisioning request when press menu button. BTW, re-provisioing is not an error or bug. For Vodafone Japan, there's this function the phone will perform updates of software automatically. So this "software update request" whenever you press the menu button only happen on Japan firmware.

I'm in the same boat as hafez... does anyone know where you can flash the fw to UK for example. What really bites is, the Japan site offers you to download the Eng manual for the 903sh.. but is does not match at all, what gives? And does anyone know how to make the phone work in text mode for telitype???

Jap firmware will have re-provisioning. 3 options:-
1. Flash to Euro or HK firmware. No re-provisioning.
2. Flash to a hybrid firmware (Euro+Jap). No re-provisioning.
3. Flash to Euro firmware. Use the 8+Power method to change from Euro setting to Jap setting. No re-provisioning

In anyway, you need flashing of firmware. So, get those guys who are trustworthy in your location to perform the flashing for you. For example, in Canada, there's Timsta. I heard he got his own method to remove the re-provisioning. I'm from Singapore. So, might not be able to help you to do flashing even though I can do it.

Good Luck!! & enjoy your 903SH..you will have alot of fun & be the envy of the others.

Thanks - I'll see what I can do, one more thing though... When texting how do you make a space? do you have to use the arrow keys because 0 and 1 aren't working for me

Posted by: Kevbodian

lol hafez ur asking just about every forum aren't you.

yes you do have to use spaces.

*edit* - lol arrow keys. euro firmware it is 0 for space.

And isn't there the space in the "enter a symbol" menu? The place that just doesn't have anything. I remember using that while I used Japanese firmware because you can't add spaces with the cursor key if you're editing your text in the middle. The arrow works as a scroller then and will become willing to make spaces to the "end".

Ahhh, i want Euro firmware that would make life much easier. I rang around today and no-one in my area flashes it and I don't know if I want to spend the 100euro on a cable. Wish if I knew all this before I bought it. Might have to sell it again *sigh*

I might be wrong but worth a try:

I have 903sh with HK firmware so I can't test it on the Sharp Vodafone. However, I also have Toshiba Vodafone 903T and 904T and they both have REPRO issue come up once in a while (they're both JP firmware) - and the only way to get rid of the REPRO is to put another SIM card in the phone, any SIM card, doesn't have to be an active one, just different from the one you normally use. Anyway, put it in, power cycle the phone (on/standby screen/off) and then put your normal/subscribed SIM card back in, power on. Works every single time, the REPRO issue goes away. It may come back but only if you put another SIM in it or turn it on without a SIM card at all.

Again, I don't know if it works on Vodafone 903sh JP firmware but it definetely works on Vodafone 903T and 904T. Give it a shot, before you pay someone. My guess it's a similar concept

that wont work panerai.

on the toshibas the repro is less *intrusive*.

if you never put in GPRS setttings on the toshibas you should never get repro. but if you put in GPRS settings, you will get repro.

If you are interested in selling, I might be interested. Pls PM me the info. When is your phone manufacturing date? If it is before Dec 2005, I might be able to flash for you. But you need to ship it to me. I guessed you are from the Europe location.

Posted by: hafez

Anyone know a company I could send my phone to in the UK or Ireland (preferably because i live there) that would be able to flash it with the euro firmware and wouldn't charge over the top prices?
