GSM phone with email capabilities

Here are my requirements:

* I live in the US West Coast, am on T-Mobile, and travel internnationally, so need a phone with Triband capabilities (900/1800/1900)

* The phone needs to have Email capabilities; ie. an email client which supports POP3/IMAP4, and which will allow me to download email at a regular interval, so I don't have to keep checking for new email.

* Since I read a lot of email, I need a big display screen, 240x320 would be nice.

* Speakerphone

* MP3 player

* Camera (not too particular abt resolution, 1.x MP will do)

* Full querty keyboard and WiFi are nice pluses but not required.

* My budget is $400 (max).

I'm looking at the Nokia 3250, but am not too happy with the display screen (only 176x208).

All help/suggestions appreciated.

I'm looking for more or less the same thing. I actually have a like new Benq P50 that I'd sell you if you're interested -- it does everything you want, including WiFi, and works great ... After a week of using it I just decided it's not for me, and I also found the QWERTY keyboard too small for my fingers. But it's got a 1.3mp camera, quad band, built-in Outlook with POP3/IMAP support, etc. I was using it on TMobile in the SFBay area and it worked just fine. If you're interested, drop me a line.

Otherwise, you might want to check out a TMobile MDA or Treo (with WiFi adapter). I'm also looking into the Nokia e70, though it's a little over your budget.

The dilemma for me has always been whether to pick a full querty keyboard or go for a smaller overall size for the phone. I currently have a Blackberry, and have found that I rarely need the fully querty keyboard, as I mostly read email on the phone, and wait to get back to the computer before replying. I'm thus looking for a slightly smaller phone than my current Blackberry 7230, so the P50 might be a little bigger than what I need. The T-Mobile MDA costs more than my budget.

But thx for mentioning the P50, I'd not thought about a Benq phone.

You can get a new or very lightly used MDA here or at that one famous auction site for $300-400.

I have the same dilemma. I actually originally wanted the qwerty board to make it easier to enter/change calendar info and notes, as I use my phone to keep my schedule and remind me of things I need to do. T9 on my SE w800i works well, but it's a pain when I enter people's names or locations that it doesn't recognize. The P50's keyboard is so small, though, that I wound up using the stylus to write by hand more than typing.

I like the idea of an EDGE phone & adding on the TMobile $6/month internet plan so I can read email & get Web updates on the go. I found that the WiFi on the P50 wasn't really all that useful, since you can't always find an open network and it's a big battery drain.

The Motorola a630 and LG vx9800 both have form factors I like, the clamshell that opens the long way. a630 is too old to have a removable memory card, and LG is verizon-only. And the SE m600i looks cool, but it lacks a camera.

It also lacks EDGE, which seems asinine to me
