best "plain" phone

reading the razr thread, brought to mind that when looking at phone ratings/opinions its often hard to segregate fancy features (3g, internet, video, etc) from the basic phone features - reception, call quality etc.

which current phones do you think have the best basic phone features? (they can have extended features, but those are a bonus.

(this is especially relevant to me as I need to upgrade a few family phones for people who could care less as to if it has video, etc.

Best "plain" phone = Nokia 6010
It's not worth wasting an upgrade on though. You can buy the Gophone version very cheap.

I would say the sony z525a is a good "basic" phone, good battery life and good reception. It also has "extended" features as well.

I'm siding with the Captain.

I'd say 6030. got one as gophone and love it.

If you're going to use upgrade credits then get the Z525a. If you want to keep those credits then go with Nokia 6010 or 6030 like they said. You can pick them up from Target for $40 and unlock them in a minute.

I agree 100%. I also picked up this go phone online for 30 bucks . Best 30 bucks i've spent on a phone. Great sound quality, RF, battery life is pretty good. It does what a phone is supposed to do very well with out any extra features .
