Motorola Sliver on T-Mobile network

I purchased an unloocked Motorola Sliver (L6) on eBay. I have purchased other phones on eBay including a Razor V3 and never had a problem.
The issue I am having is that I am not getting notification of messages correctly. Instead of the little envelope poping on the screen with an audible notification of a message, I get a text message of unintelligible symbols. The message area of the phone shows a text message, but no voicemail.
I have contacted T-Mobile, but they are not very helpful, and say that the phone is "not supported" -- obviously because they are ticked that they didn't make their 300% markup !
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Robert

If you are brave enought ( I wasn't) you can go to http://www.themotoguide.com/index.p...4c47ddd03e6a838 and see if that will work for you. I believe seem editing for a L6 is similar to that of a razr. I would certainly check around first. I have an L7 so I know that it works on that. I, however chose not to do this to my phone because I was afraid of screwing my phone up. I called t-mobile and they can turn the voicemail indicator function off so you will not continue to get those weird little symbols. You can still get voicemails, you just won't get the indicator message. Hope this helps.

the seems are the same, to the uninitiated, the Triplet Tool Compilation will be one of the easiest ways to acheive VM functionality. Turn off manual network selection, this feature also covers VM notification.

The idea of doing the SEEM edit frightened me at first as well. In my case, using Moto4Lin on my Mac, I had better luck getting a functional editor in less time than with the other tools on XP. In case though, once you get an editor up and running, the edit itself is cake, and it does resolve the issue.
