few questions about 8125

i am very close to buying a cingular 8125 but i have a couple of questions.

1) i am buying this phone for its wifi ability. however my university encrypts their wifi internet so everytime i use the wifi i have to enter my username and password. does this phone support such a encryptions since my psp did not.

2) is there a difference between unlocked cingular 8125 and locked cingular 8125. i have cingular anyway so i wouldn't mind buying a locked 8125 but do unlocked 8125 offer more or less?

3) if i was to listen to a mp3 on a subway or bus filled with people, would i be able to even hear the mp3 with the stocked earphones or do i have to buy another earphone or the sound quality of the phone is terrible enough that i cannot hear the mp3 even with good earphones. are the sound quality up there with phones such as the w800?

4) how much is the average price for a brand new 8125? on ebay, the cheapest was about 400 dollars. is that consider cheap or could i find a better deal somewhere else?

5) once i get a 8125, what accessories are a must for it?

thanks ahead for answering these questions

1 more quick question -

using the wifi on this phone is free right? cingular won't charge me for no data or anything like that right?

1. Yeah you will be able to access the wifi anywere their is a 802.11b connection avaible. If their is an password it will also work. When you first connect to a wifi network you will creat a profile and their you enter in all the information so you dont have to enter in the password everytime you want to connect. You need to find out what type of encryiption they are using to make sure it is compatibale with the phone.

2. I dose not really matter if you get the phone locked or unlocked. It will cost you less threw cingular to get it locked and just unlock it urself once you get the phone. Their is no reall advantage to unlocked unless you are going to switch to another provider such as T-mobile. Their is not anymore featurers and you will pay more for a 8125 that is already unlocked.

3. The cost is around $400 on ebay. I would recommend since you already have cingular to purchase threw cingular directly and it csot about $350 with a 2 year contact renewal. It will also be alot easir if their is a problem with the phone to contact cingular then a ebay seller to get it fixed.

4. For the mp3 yeah the phone is ok with them. I dont think it will be that good since you will be in a high noise enviorment and I would not suggest it for it. I have not seen a phone yet that is as good as an ipod for music.

5. For acces. The best thing to get first is a miniSD memory unit. 2gb one can be found on newegg.com for around $40. Also I would suggest if you drive alot getting a gps unit and software.

6. The phone comes with built in wifi so aslong as your connected to a wifi point and you use the wifi their will be no extra charges for data. Sometimes the GPRS connects (cingulars data plan) when you open application but all you have to do is go and turn it off onces it comes up. I would suggest thou getting the data plan because the wifi sometimes in picky about the connection and seems to drop some connections. Also GPRS data plan you can access something everywere and u dont need to be near a wifi connection.

Yeah it is a great phone and they did a great job making it. The only thing I would like to see if it is possible is a modle that comes with the arm processor. Dot know if it possible but if it did I would think their would be more applications for the phone along with games.Quake can run only on the arm CPU whihc are in Dell PDA's.
