LG realsed a flash for the 8100 on the 17th of Aug. to fix a known problem wiht many 8100's frexing on start up. befor the only way to fix is was a mainbord replacement. The problem is i think the only people who got it wre teh LG repair centers and not thr Product Care Centers. i dont rember what version it is but i do know it takes a good 40 min. to flash.
My contact at the LG service center is vary upset because he has almost 200 phones there and LG does not want to pay him to do the updates that is almost 133 hours of work there not to mention waht comes in every day. I told them to send me the patch i i would do our customers.
has anyone seen the file here?
it would be for the Telus network.

sorry , never heard of it, but i'm not in that loop

have you tried deleteing some of the items in your phone memory ?

what was the last thing you put in before the problem started,

the phone is know for having problems, if you exceed the allocation limits of any of the file folders, too many songs, too many ringtones, too many pix , too many anythng on the phones internal memory will cause a problem even if you did NOT add anything to the other folders, you are not allowed to use ALL the phones memory for only one type of file. the phone will sc**** up if you exceed the internal file limits

it is a known problem, sooner or later it will die, get the patch BEFOR the warranty expires.

Posted by: LG 8100 Stumped

Oh Gosh, I hope this is something that can help me. On 01-01-06, my phone quit working... Well, I can not use it as a phone, everything else on the unit works just as if it were brand new.
On New Years Eve, my phone worked fine. Right before Midnight I called my Sister, that was the last call I made.
The next morning, my phone would not work. I called LG, Verizon and I went to 5 different Verizon stores over 3 Counties. The final one said that my phone was damaged by... FOG! Whatever. I tried to explain to everyone that my phone was not damaged by the fog, my phone worked fine and everything on it worked. The problem was that the date on my phone was 01-06-1980 not 01-01-2006. No one would help me, my phone was only 4 months old, there was nothing wrong with the phone. Unfortunately for me I did not purchase the insurance on the phone, LG told me to send it in to them and they would see what they could do, the service center told me that I should throw the phone in their trash can. I had to purchase a new phone, with no discount, and at that time the price was around $300 or so. I was so mad, but needed the phone, so I bought a new one after exchanging words with the "manager." Noone seemed to care that the entire phone worked except for the actual telephone part. I still have the phone, I refused to give it to them. You can take pictures, video, use the verbal command settings, etc... To this day, when you turn the phone on it shows the date of 01-06-1980. I tried to tell everyone that the month and the day was the month and the year of the phone when it quit working, and I am not sure, but I really don't remember having cell phones in 1980... I would love it if someone could help me on this, if this is something that I can finally go back to Verizon and LG on I would love to. BUT, until they say something that I want to hear, I am keeping the non-working phone as a very expensive paper weight. I just want to say "told ya so, Fog Damage, my rear!"

FOG damage would mean mouister in the phone and the sticker would have changed

either it has or it hasn't...you can get moisture/water damage just by carrying the phone in your pants pocket and sweating on it.. it seeps in like steam and damages delicate circuits, again the sticker is the tell-tale..

you could always try to talk some CS rep into flashing the phone maybe that would get it working if the circuits are not damaged

Known Problem?

Funny... I've NEVER heard of it.

And I've got ALOT of people around here using the LG 8100.

And many of these people are in a position to choose whatever phone they want and they picked the LG 8100.
