hey everyone, i have had the 8125 for not quite a month now and i am having serious thoughts of switching to the treo 650, now i know the 8125 is a better media phone and what not, however i need a phone that is first and foremost a phone, now i don't live in a big city, but cingular works real well in my area, (my girlfriend has a razr and she gets reception everywhere). however i am having problems with the reception of the 8125, also to connect to the internet is ungodly slow on the 8125, first and foremost my biggest concern is reception, i would love to know what everyones experience with this is, if the treo is a stronger phone as far as service goes, then hands down its the phone for me, secondly does the treo connect any faster then the 8125, if they are all the same and are all slow thats fine but it just seems awful slow, i am torn because i think both phones are cool the 8125 deff has some features i would miss, however i need a phone that is capable of making calls, i realize that smartphones or pdas don't get as good of reception as regular phones, i accept that, but any insight would be very helpful, im starting to get discouraged and am thinkin about going back to a regular phone, but would love to keep the features of a smartphone, your help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

what do you want to use the phone for??

i wanna use it first and foremost as a phone, i want a phone that is gonna get the strongest reception possible, secondly i want it to be internet capable, i wanna be able to go browse, and look stuff up if i need it. i don't really use an organizer that much, i have a 30 gig ipod so i don't really need it for music or movies, i just want a phone that will get good reception be somewhat quick loading webpages, i understand its a phone not a computer but sometimes the 8125 takes a rediculously long time

the treo is even worse... if you recently signed up and are under 30 days you could always goto verizon and get the motorola Q... actually, if you really want just a phone and internet, get the nokia E61... it does the two the best, i have one, but i dont like it, because i like to do alot more with my phone, the e61, seems like a good choice for you. it has no camera, but has a nice browser, and it has amazing reception.

if you don't need the organizer and media features of a pda phone or smartphone, then grab a 3g phone, like the recent LG, and use Opera Mini. Blazing fast internet.

yea thats also a good option, but its annoying sometimes to type out web pages then

I agree with the Nokia e61 suggestion, but if you don't feel comfortable getting a phone from Ebay, try the Nokia 6682 and put Opera Mini on it. Kick*ss reception and "typical"-or-better cellphone internet experience. Both have plenty of bells and whistles, but you'll have more of the 8125's functionality with the e61. I've had both, and took back my 8125 due to reception issues. I'm not having reception problems with the e61 where I live.
The only thing to remember is the e61 isn't carried or serviced by any US carriers. If you decide to go that route, read up on it here. Helped me out A LOT!! (HoFo ROCKS!)

8125 has great reception, but people say that cant hear me alot... even with my nokia e61 which im now selling... i think i may be a nerd and get a bluetooth headset

I would hope reception wouldn't be a problem in NYC, but here in Kentucky the 8125 was sub-par at best.
Believe me! I'd have LOVED to keep my 8125, but it just wasn't practical to have a cell phone I could rarely have a conversation on.
