Quick question. How do you guys like the Samsung D407? How is the reception?

Thanks...

I've sold about 30 or 40 in the last month and a half and NOBODY has come back complaining. I should be getting one mid-september or later. From what I've done with it, it seems like a great phone. Top 2 features for me are PTT (obviously) and voice command. I'm constantly dialing numbers on the road and would help if I could just say the number I want.

I liked it. No complaints that I can recall (and that is good).

I see you have a Treo also. What apps. do you run on it? I am looking for a Verichat edition that let's me log on with TWO AIM screennames. But what else do you run?

I have to say that I don't really run anything that did not come with it other than Good Link. Good is huge and I have very little room left on my device now for other apps. I need a newer version with more memory. I'm far from a Treo expert due to all the other devices I play with.

I have to say that I really love the voice command! I didn't even know it had this feature, and when i stumbled onto it on the phone it worked perfectly without any training!! I had a nextel phone that let me record voice commands for ppl and whatnot, but it never worked very well, and you had to set it for each phone entry... this phone "hears" your voice very well and recognizes what you are saying very well! far better than any other electronic device i've seen!

I got a D407 for my mom because she wanted something with speakerphone and Bluetooth. She seems quite happy with it.

How is the earpiece volume and battery life?

Posted by: MyPyle

my grandparents both have them and they like the phones to.

I love my phone, great earpiece volume, good battery life. I normally talk on the phone on average two hours a day, use MobiTV streaming video for an average of an hour a day, and tethering or using media net for about 2 hours a day, use bluetooth on and off daily and I charge my battery every 3 to 5 days depending on usage. I love PTT on this phone it's very loud and works well. The only thing's I have a problem with on this phone is the screen, it looks a little washed out and isn't really up to par with other samsungs, and also the reception. It isn't all that great but it can hold a call and not break up with no bars for signal. Strangly enough I found my brothers phone the LGC300 PTT phone holds a stronger signal than my samsung. I would recommend this phone to anyone as long as you don't live in a fringe area or travel to one a lot then this phone should work just fine.

How do you mean the reception is poor, but it can hold a call fine with no bars? Sounds good to me. I think the phone performs fine and I live in a low coverage area.

Well regardless of what you think of "da' razr phone," it performs very admirably on the network. I only wish most phones performed that well. I'm not saying I am a razr fan, just that it is a respectable phone with good performance and there is no reason to steer people away from it that I know of.

No reason at all, except for the 3-4 a day that come back due to a blank screen, no booting up, unable to charge, "voice notes full" error message and no way to clean it out, and bad battery life.

Point taken.

Well it will hold onto a call with no bars but it doesn't take long before it gets there any beyond. My D407 will drop a call when my brothers C300 is still going strong. It just seems to me Samsungs haven't been that great in the RF department.

I bought one to fill in for the open time of selling m 8125 and getting my 8500...

and so far, I think it's a good little phone...glad to get rid of it when my 8500 gets here, but its still a nice phone.

I haven't used PTT because I guess you have to pay for it and I don't so yea.

The reception is good but its not clear. Sounds fuzzy but you can understand everything fine. Kinda hard to explain.

Battery life seems like the same as my 8125 which was a PDA so I guess that means it's pretty bad for having basically nothing running all the time.

all-in-all, I'd say its an OK phone, for what it has and can do, but it wouldn't be my first choice as far as "regular" phones go.

Hey all, new member here....

About the D407...

What I like:

1) Battery life. In the past few weeks owning this phone, It keeps a full charge, and I've been on a once a week recharge with the travel charger that comes with the phone.

2) Signal strength. Very misleading, I've made clear calls even with 1 bar showing on the phone. No dropped calls yet!

3) I agree with the other posters about the voice command- great function to have, and I've been using it more & more

4) The earpiece volume. It's not super loud when I turn it all the way up, and I can still hear what someones saying to me even with background noise. I usually keep the volume at 3 on the earpiece.

Sadly, what I don't like so far about this phone:

1) The charger uses a flat insert style plug that connects to a port at the bottom of the phone. In both my experience with past phones (and friends phones as well) the two buttons on either side start to falter after a couple months use & I've had to replace them a few times.

2) I also agree about the screen. It's a good size screen, but it does seem "washed out".

3) The built in ringers & wallpaper are also sorely lacking, but I have figured out how to port my own homemade ringers that I've made on my Macintosh & port them over via email (I don't have Bluetooth on my computer...but now im going to get it!), and same with the wallpaper (found some on the forums...I like alot of them)

All in all, great phone, and the positives outway the negatives on it.
