I'm on my second exchange with the w600i so I decided to ask and see what they say. The rep went to her supervisor, came back and said that it's very uncommon. :|

you do know that with the data cable and p2ktools you can change the volume of the earpiece right?

I don't have any low volume problems with my earpeice. Have you tried upgrading the firmware?
