Hey, I'm completely new to this, so sorry if there's some stuff that seems stupid to you.
I recently bought a data cable off ebay for my Motorola v265 in hopes of at least being able to put ringtones on it.
I've installed motorola phone tools and I don't have the required multimedia option that you need to do this, however I know that my phone will support these. There's another way of getting them by emailing them, but I'm not sure if this costs as data usage which on Telus, is fairly expensive.
Any way to just put the darn ringtones on the phone with the cable, any third party program that works.
ANY help appreciated. Thanks

you will need to do a seem edit on the phone, then fool MPT into thinking it is either a v265m or a v710m.
check in the moto subsection of the verizon forum. all of the information you could ever want is there. In fact, from experience, the v265 is exactly the same as the v710 so any edits that work on the v710 will also work on the v265.

I finally got that working, and I changed that e2 to a e3 in the seem like all the tutorials said, but now MPT won't recognize it as a 265m but I'll try the v710m.
Actually hold on, I got it to work as a v265m, but the media center thing wont let me access the filesystem on the phone as if its still locked... thats what was confusing me. What drivers whould I be using for everything, and what programs should be open. Through all the tutorials Ive tried I've installed so many different drivers MPT open? Just these little things I think are the problem. Also, does it matter which version of MPT I'm using, I think I'm using the final retail. 4.11 I think.
If it helps the phone is from Telus in Canada, not verizon.

I got it. It seems that after doing the seem edit, bitpim can see the filesystem. I just forgot to go view>>filesystem>>show filesystem.
After that everything works fine.
