why is this so hard? in a market flooded with products, its frustrating that everything "good" is like over $300!! and even then, those phones get buggy. for instance, i had the treo 650 for 1 month last year but as a phone it never got reception......with the sony series, i was going to get a w600i but too many ppl complain of the phone crashing permanently, so no sony phones for me. i thought about the Motorola L2, but i have read online that its reception inside buidlings and malls are horrible! last, theres nokia, i had the 6030 which even at full volume, i couldnt hear anything most of the time, and the phone kept breaking up! i checked out the 6102i, but if the ear peice ist INSIDE your ear, you cant hear anything! is there even a decent phone out there now? all i want is consistent reception, loud volume, and maybe an FM radio.....thats it!

Best advice would be to research the GSM handset that suits your needs and buy it unlocked. Sounds simple to me.

I do wish you luck, not sure which phone would be best for you though.

nokia 6030. solid. cheap. good reception. loud voice. fm radio.

funny, i had the 6030, but the reception and sound were bad!! = (

I think the L2 is a good phone myself. The V3 is a very reliable phone, better than average performance on the network. I am not a big Motorla fan due to the OS on the phones, but those two phones are good.

Also just because a Sony Ericsson phone has issues does not mean they all do. Using your logic you would have to discount all brands as they have all released bad phones (some very bad).

thats true, but its just that i see sony phone users most of the time posting up problems!! well as for th eL2, have u been able to use it in certain areas?

L2 Worked fine in my house which has poor signal. I can't say as I noticed if I used it in the worst of RF signal conditions or not.

Why don't you just get a trimline and a really REALLY long cord. You'd have everything you needed then. I personally like my cu500 for reception and volume, unless I'm at my parents house where no phone will work. I also got good reception with a n-gage qd if you don't mind hauling that piece around. Um. Other than that I'd stick with landlines for you. Maybe you can carry a roll of quarters to use payphones in the mall too.

Ouch! Take it easy on the landline jokes!
Maybe you just got a bad phone because most of them you mention many people use and are very happy with. I have an unlocked SE w810i that has great eception, good earpiece volume, FM radio, walkman, etc. I am very happy with it but there are lots of variables that go into this market. It's just a matter of finding what works for you. Good luck.

I'm thinkin that either you got some bad phones, or maybe your area has bad reception? Just a thought.

Do you live in the middle of nowhere? At present I'm in a farm village in MI and have to leave my parents house to get any reception. But I'll be back home in 9 days. That's exciting.
