Can't delete contacts/messages on V235

I have a Motorola V235 for Cingular prepaid service. I noticed there is no menu option to delete phone numbers from the address book (or even text messages). Is there actually a way to do it or there is a major flaw in the firmware? Any tips/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

For some reason, many people that are new to moto phones tend to overlook the fact that most motorola phones have a CENTER menu button(excluding some of the newer cdma models). You would be wise to learn how to use it because there are lots of functions that can only be accessed by using it.

I know that many people have mentioned Moto's confusing and tricky interface - but I can't imagine it being a hidden function. For example, I push the center Menu button - go to Address Book - View - Edit - Change. There is a Delete left soft key option next but it only serves as a backspace key to clear text. After I clear the name and number and press OK nothing happens.

On name or message press the menu key (the one with three bars on it) and then select Delete.

Press the middle menu button, highlight address book and select it, then arrow up/down to highlight the name you want to delete, then press the middle menu button again (NOT the round one in the middle of the arrow keys -the one above it) and delete should be an option. Alternately, you can highlight the name you want to delete, then press view, then press the middle menu button again to see the delete option. If you press the EDIT softkey then you've gone too far into the contact's details to delete the whole thing.

Thanks for the tips guys. However, there is no Delete function upon pressing the Menu button on my phone. If I highlight the Contact, press Menu it goes into the phone contact details where there is a Delete function on the left. If I press Delete and OK on the right, it clears the text and I end up on the previous screen. But there is no option to finalize the removal of the Contact. I'm highly disappointed that a renowned company like Motorola can make such a big goof. This may be my first and last Moto purchase.....

YOU are the only goof in this situation my friend.

This is the menu button I'm referring to, NOT the round one in the center. I've edited my last message to clarify.

Ohhhh, now I see. I have never seen any other brand of phone with a menu button located there. I see the light now...and I won't give up on Motorala just yet. THANX!!!

Congratulations!!!

As I stated in my first message in this thread, it's difficult for people that are new to Motorola to grasp the whole "middle menu button" concept but now that you know that the option is there, you should be able to figure out how to delete messages as well.
