EMAIL configuration "Connection Type: MY ISP vs CINGULAR

I'm new to Cingular and have an (unlocked, UK version) HP iPaq hw 6915 and am playing around with the email set up. Thus far, I'm frustrated at how long it is taking to connect/authorize before actually retrieving my email from my POP accounts.

I followed the email settings detailed in Cingular's support article https://onlinecare.cingular.com/sup...ls/KB50981.html

Either there is an "error" in that article or there's something new with Windows Mobile 5.0 (or my 6900 series HP), but under the setting "Connection Type" (under Options, Page 5/5 of the account setup dialog), the article specifies to pick "My ISP", which definitely doesn't work -- that makes no email sending/receiving possible. If I pick "CINGULAR" it works.

I'm still struck, though, how long it is taking for the authorizing/login to take when retreiving email messages. (I'm comparing my Cingular experience to that I had with Sprint -- with a phone not capable of utilizing any high-speed network. So I don't think I'm just being unrealistic).

Are there other settings somewhere I can tweak?
