Contract options not mentioned when buying from Amazon?

Hi all,
I'm currently on Alltel, and am thinking I want to switch to Verizon (Richmond, VA but commute very often to the Hampton Roads area). I was going to buy my phone and plan via Amazon, but I have a few questions concerning doing that versus doing it either over Verizon's website or at the store.
Porting over my current Alltel number seems rather straightforward, but I noticed that when you do it through Amazon they never ask about your TXTing options, nor do they ask about phone insurance. I'm assuming I can just go into my local Verizon store and get the appropriate options added to my plan after I get the phone via Amazon and activate it via *228, right? There shouldn't be any problem there?
Thanks all.

To add insurance or text you don't even have to go to a store, it is a change CS can make over the phone. I'm not sure why they don't offer those via their website though. You will only have 15 days from activation to add the insurance.

OK, then I can probably just get both of those added when I call CS to get my old phone number ported over then. Thanks for the info!
