I am trying to get my data (ringtones and pictures especially) off of my phone, but I keep getting an error saying:
An unexpected exception has occurred and a long list of stuff I don't understand. Any ideas?

hello,
did you install the correct driver's? what cable are you using? what version of bitpim? does the computer recognize the phone when you connect it via the cable within bitpim?

How do I know if I have the correct drivers installed? I am using a USB Cable that I got specifically for my phone. I am using the latest version of Bitpim (9). No, my computer isn't recognizing the phone.

hello Eileen,
i just downloaded and installed the newest BITPIM and then also went searching for correct driver's for the LG VX7000, and I found the USB DRIVERS for the LG VX7000 on this web page linked below bottom of this message, just scroll down on that page and then click on the download for the correct model(lg vx7000)...after you download it, run the Installer, if you get any windows not passed error's just continue anyway, it will be ok.when you run this installer it will install about 3-4 thing's befor eit is completely finished, then AFTER this, connect you phone via the cable to your PC, and start up BITPIM. Once bitpim is running click on the phone wizard so that bitpim recognizes/configures your phone correctly. it takes a bit to firgure this all out, and if you need further info and cant get it running, reply back and ill try to help you out more. the COM 1 setting had to br changed to COM 4 in order for it to work correctly, which the "wizard" thing in bitpim set up helped in doing this, then everything worked fine. let me know how it goes, alienvx7000

How do I do that?

hello EileenC,
It would take me a lot of messages to explain to you all about using "WAP" and getting your cell to connect to the Internet. My best advice would be to do search's about this topic and gather as much knowledge as you can, so you fully understand how to do it, before you even attempt doing anything with your cell phone, so that it doesnt get messed up. a few good places to start learning about "WAP" are in this forums and also here:

hello Eileen, here is a great site also for adding Wallpapers and ringtones to the LG VX7000 Phone via Bitpim. you'll need to sign up to log in on the page to download anything there, but it is simple, safe and free to do so. once logged in..be sure to make/change the size of any wallpapers you download to 176 by 184 for inside phone wallpapers (main LCD Screen). once they are the correct size, open the pic using "Paint" program and save then as a 'JPEG" File.
basically follow these directions:
1) log into the site
2) once you find a good wallpaper double click on it with left mouse button
3) click on "change the size of this wallpaper" under link
4) enter 176 width in top box and 184 height in bottom box for size change
5)click on "crop"
6)copy and paste the first URL for pic and then go to the page in another window of your browser
7) when page opens with resized picture on it, right click and choose 'SAVE AS" to a location on your hard drive
8) open the folder that contains the pic and then right click on it and choose "OPEN WITH"... "Paint"
9) once pic is opened with Paint, click on "FILE".."SAVE AS".in bottom 2 boxes first give it a "file name" and then most importantly in box 2 choice. for SAVE AS TYPE" Box, change it as a "JPEG"
10) now open BITPIM and take that jpeg of the pic and copy it into BITPIM under the wallpapers section, then connect phone and add/send new wallpaper to phone.
11) if all went well, when you now on your phone go to OK/SETTINGS AND TOOLS/DISPLAY/WALLPAPER/MAIN LCD/.. the pic should be one of the choices for you to use as a wallpaper
Important note: if you want to change the Front LCD wallpaper pic on the Outside front of the phone, it must be resized to 90 by 80, and also follow all steps above for it to be changed, just that it must be the 90 by 80 size
To add a new ringtone from this same site: log in and then find ringtone you want, Click on Listen, and when it opens up windows media player and begins to play, go to "FILE" (at top of WMP Window), then "SAVE AS", Give it a name, and click ok, the "type" box can be left as is. after done with this just add it inside BITPIM to the Ringers section and then send/Add Data to phone.
here is the site: http://www.freemobilefun.net/
Good luck on all this and enjoy
