E815 Problems - Water Damage?

Hi,

My wife's 9 month old E815 will not boot up. All I get is the blue Boot Init screen. Took it to Verizon and they tried unsuccessfully to flash it. They said it failed at the very end. There is an indicator tab inside the phone that they showed me that was red, which they say means the phone was water dameged. This was news to us, but possibly a baby bottle might have leaked a little in her purse. It certainly was never submerged.

Anyway, we don't care so much about the phone, but there were a number of very precious photos and videos of our young children on the phone that we are crushed to lose.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what we might try to recover this data from the phone? Verizon seemed basically just to be salivating at the prospect of selling us a new E815 at full retail, and didn't care much about us as customers. I'm going to try calling Motorla directly, but thought I'd post here for suggestions. Any chance the phone may eventually dry out and be OK?

Also, any suggestions for where to get a new E815 (or functional equivalent) at a reasonable price? Lastly, this episode has made me think about getting replacement insurance for my own E815. Is it possible to get 3rd party? Verizon wants too much money and will only sell it to you within 15 days of the original purchase.

Thanks,

Hook it up to your computer and see if you can extract the photos.
