I was in the Corp store and was looking at the PDA/smartphones and found out that Cingular will not sell them to you unless you subscribe to some kind of data package (sorry for the ignorance).
I'm looking into buying a used (Cingular)Nokia 6682 which is a "smartphone". Can I just take my SIM card and swap it into the 6682? I just like the phone and will not really be using the "data" features and don't want to add any new subscriptions(fees) to my regular monthy (cell phone only) bill.

make sure it is unlocked or cingular branded , you dont need no data packages with this phone .... also this phone works great with a 3g sim.

You won't need a data package (as stated above), but if you don't have one I'd be very careful as to which buttons you push. It's pretty easy to accidentally hit the wrong button and have medianet start to load. You could always put in the wrong connection info.....that should keep it from accidentally accessing medianet.
Fantastic phone, btw!!! I really can't say enough good things about it!

Thanks! I just want to make sure the phone will operate fine with no required data packages or anything....

I think some stores require you to purchase a data package for the discount

Yup, will work fine w/o a data package. I love my 6682 also, although I use data on it more than the phone itself.

There's very few things this phone can't do. It keeps amazing me, even though I'm mainly using the e61 right now.
If I could only combine the 2 so the e61 would have the camera and the 6682 would have a qwerty keyboard!! *sigh*

Sounds good! Thanks!
I'm buying it...
