I have the V600 and want to increase the volume for my headset (HS850). I've read this can be done by using a hack via a USB Data Cable, downloading a program called "P2Kman" and getting a "Hex editor" (have no idea what this is).

So it sounds like this is pretty involved for the typical guy who knows nothing about cell phones and hacks, like me! Is there another way to simply increase my volume beyond it's current settings or is this it? Also, I don't want to invest in this cable when I plan on getting rid of the phone, unless this cable can be used with any Moto phone. Is there any other way I can increase the volume on my HS850?

Being new to modding at one time, its really not that hard. If you didn't want to tackle it, read a bit then have someone send you the gain_table.bin file that was modified for the same phone and same firmware you have. All you have to do is upload it and re-start your phone and the volume should be increased.

I'm definitely interested in having someone send me the file to upload. I have no idea what firmware I have though. How do I find this? I bought the phone in '04 and haven't changed anything, if that helps.
