Whats up peeps, kiosk sales consultant here.. Thought I would create a thread for fellow kiosk consultants to post of there trials and triumphs..personally, I am getting tired of the kiosk thing..my commission check hits an avg. of about 400$ after taxes each month..(part time)..the average commission check for a part time consultant at the walk-in store just down the street is more than double that!!!

Probably because most people don't trust the little kiosk stands as most of the time they pop up and disappear. As a consumer I want either brick and mortar type shops that I know will be there in a week OR a large online source...

Go get a job in a store...

If only it were that simple.. I just took this job because I knew Cingular paid well..Little did i know that you have to hold a position for a year before you can be transferred to another location... im kinda stuck

I'm currently in a walk-in store, but have worked in a mall kiosk before. Over the last year and a half I average $1200 in commission. Some of the kiosk's In my area do much more than that.

Sorry for the double post. Not sure what happened.

ye, well i think maybe part of the reason we do poorly here is because there is 11 total stores in this mall where you can get cellphones and cellphone service..therefore, it is swamped with sales people trying to make a buck

I averaged ~900/mo for the year I worked at cingular. Averaging $2000/mo at vzw now.

When I started working for a cingular agent I worked in a mall kiosk full time..its was such a drag and I made almost no money. Two and a half months later they started rotating us between one of our big stores and the kiosk and I started making a whole lot more money. These days I still have to work at the mall kiosk one day a week and it still sucks....

Glad ya feel me daveman... that verizon guy is getting PAID though...mand i want that kinda money, i could use an extra 1500 per month for sure

possible....as is anything, but I highly doubt it.. Thanks for your failed attempt at problem solving..next time you decide to interject, try something witty, or intelligent

I work for Radio Shack owned SC kiosk/rSolutions as a sales associate and i just yesterday got promoted to manager... base pay $6.82/hr plus spiffs... i bring home in 2 weeks $1100 for full time hours..

I guess it probably helps though if you work for a dealer like Radio Shack because the phones are hella cheap. I happen to work for an agent that charges roughly $20 more per phone than corporate and we even charge $10 the sim card. Granted I relize being a salesmen does play a role in it, however its a whole lot easier when the phones are dirt cheap!

I worked in kiosk for many years for cingular. Kiosk are different environment compared to stores, you are much more autonomus, you have to know what your doing and you have to be aggressive. I remember being a sales rep and hitting high numbers consistently, I was always in the top half of market in terms of subs in those days. Myself and my co worker consistently sold 60 plus adds a month. So it is possible to make money you just have to work at it. What I have found though after moving to management, is that you actually have to sell and market yourself in a kiosk are you won't make money. The other thing of note is that with the new opp quotas, kiosk in some markets are left in the cold because they are set more for new activations , and they tend to cater more to that type of environment. We had two coporate stores out front of the mall that did most of the upgrades and mirgrations and our coporate kiosk in the mall did mostly new activations.

I would say that working in a mall is much harder than in a b&m store. You have to keep in mind that their are almost always more than one cingular dealer in the mall not to mention other providers so you have to be on your game not just an order taker. I was one of the top sales reps at one of the biggest store in my area, and i have to work to hit our quotes at the mall.

Also my mall has a very high crime rate; and does not draw the cingular targeted audience. Meaning that my comp is much lower than it was when i was working in a store. My pay went down 1500 a month.
